Default 19 Year Old Newbie - Upstate NY

Hello everyone I am young so that just by itself should make me stand out from the usual Corvette owner. Currently working on a 1977 C3 as it was my fathers and I want to finally get it on the road again where it deserves to be. Im not new to the forums at all, but I am new to a forum for domestic cars as Im constantly on here for my daily car where that community is also very friendly.

Currently only know enough knowledge about my car from craigslist postings. Its a 1977 350 engine with 44k. Dark blue exterior with white leather interior, aluminum wheels, thrust optional sidepipes, and a luggage rack. Also a 4spd which is rare when automatics were the uproar. Im guessing it is a late 1977 model as it does not have the fender lock. Only saw one with the same 4spd, and color combo as mine and my car looks very beat compared to it.

So far I changed the oil and put in new sparkplugs. The left front caliper is locked up so Im hoping I can fix that aswell. The paint is very easy to chip as Ive done it a few times just working around it, so ordered touch up paint and I restored the white leather so it looks so much cleaner. Sorry to make this so long anyway thats all for now

Hi and Welcome to the forum
Yes the Blue with White int is kinda rare. Also the 4 spd manual trans is fairly rare. Out of 49k Vettes in '77, only about 8k were 4 spds, with 2k being close ratio. Got my info from the Corvette Black Book
Best of luck with your project

Oh and check your vin # for how late yours is. The last car ended with 49213

Did some more checking. It looks like the side pipes stopped being an option after 1969, so I'm guessing they were aftermarket from then on.

What exactly is the black book you speak of? Yes the sidepipes were a factory option so I was told. Not sure what happened to the stock exhaust. With side pipes you can clearly hear the valves louder

1969 is the only year any C3 could have been built from the factory with side pipes. Yeah the side pipes are meant to sound mean. Just don't burn your leg.

Welcome and post some pictures of the car, it will help us let you know more about your car, more accurately.

Also yes being that you are younger is a pretty rare, but not un-common thing. I was 15 when I got my 1972 nearly 10 years ago. Since then I have had many different generations. I have had a '69, '72, and a '75.

Best of luck with your project.
