Will be a first time Vette owner next Saturday!
I'm picking up a new to me Corvette next Saturday. A true barn find deal! I don't want to divulge too much info so no one tries to buy it from under me, haha!
Anyways, 1990 Corvette, 6 speed, 85k miles, 1 owner car. This will be my first ever Corvette, but my second TPI car.
I got a few questions that i see conflicting info online.
2 bolt or 4 bolt main? I've read they were all 2 bolts, but some 4 bolts made it through? Then others say that's impossible, but the same block casting was used for 2 bolt and 4 bolt mains.
Second question, car has been sitting for a few years in a garage under a cover. Guy says he's removed the battery and puts it on a trickle charger every now and then to keep it charged. I'm not sure if he's done anything to the rest of the car to prep it for the hibernation.
My question is, what should i look out for? My plan is to change ALL the fluids and filters, and check the fuel and brake lines. I've never messed with a car like this that sat so long. I've been ***** deep in a 77 z28 that day for 5 years, didn't take much to get her screaming again. I assume this corvette will be the same, but will need a more extensive inspection.
For $5k, this seems like a steal to me. Please give this Vette noob all the advice you can muster. It took alot of persuasion to get the wife on board with this purchase. I want to do it right, and make this vette live again!
