engine swap
Hi everyone, new user so please excuse any mistakes.
I have a 65 originally a 396 but at some point was replaced by a 350.
I want to replace the 350 with either a 383 stroker or a BB.
I have a BB which I bought in 1978? which was newly rebuilt and has been stored in my garage since then that I might use, but I don't know what the engine is. Here are the casting numbers.
Block #- 3963512 Build date C 4 70
Heads # - 8964291 GM 4 T
Both the block and heads have Hi Perf stamped on them.
Can anyone tell me what this engine is?
What are the pluses and minuses of each route?
I have heard that BB Corvettes have a tendency to overheat?
Will the BB bolt right in? What changes will I have to make?
Thanks in advance for any help as I don't want to jump in and regret it later.
