Hello Everyone, just purchased my first vintage Vette
Hello Everyone
First of all I want to thank all the posters for all the browsing I've already done. The wealth of knowledge you guys and gals have is unsurpassed.
My first "real" car was a new 1995 Z28 with the LT-1, T-tops and I ended up doing a few mild mods like cold air, flowmaster cat back exhaust, hypertech programming. It made enough horsepower to get the 18 y.o. Me in a lot of trouble... sounded great doing it!
My experience with corvettes has been, for lack of a better word, Pampered ! My first corvette was a brand new C6, I was lucky enough to get my buddy's father-in-law's spot to get one of the first 50 on the road and I had ordered it in a red color that had a very limited run and got discontinued. Sadly I had to sell it a year later but luckily it was suddenly a collectors color, so at auction a rear and 8,000 miles later, it sold for a few dollars more than original sticker price...
Fast forward to last week
I found a 1973 C3 Coupe in decent shape. Has a 350 that's been worked on by the first owner (not the seller) it has Edelbrock manifold, weber carb (I think, yet to identify the model), headers and a nice exhaust. The seller gave me receipts for engine and tranny rebuilds in 2011. The car was purchased by his son, and driven for 8 years then sat for two, only being run occasionally. Last ran 6 months ago but it turned like it wanted to start, so after consulting with a buddy who knows about engines and mechanical work in general and for the price negotiated we decided to take it on as a project.
We just started looking at things and it looks like the fuel system is dirty and needs a good look. The vacuum system is also another area we need to address it seams. I'll be researching suspension as the shocks are beat and bushings need to be replaced at the minimum but I'm considering upgrading he suspension while we're at it.
I'll be doing a lot of reading in the C3 forum and hopefully a little posting!

A good year to own; last of the rear chrome bumpers. Welcome aboard
