Ist Time Owner 2001 C5 Convertible
My wife's dream car for 30+ years has been a two seat, convertible, sports car. We recently hosted a gathering of fellow cancer buddies and when walking some of our last guest out, my wife saw their 2001, C5, Deep Navy, convertible. When she saw it she threw her arms up in the air and proclaimed, "My Dream Car for over 30 Years". My friend told her that when they got back home to New Orleans, they planned to sell it.
Well that sure changed things around our house. For the next ten days or so she was emailing and calling him back and forth. Now we already have a 40 foot RV, new Pickup truck, Toyota Rav4 and a boat. How many toys does someone really need?
In the end I told her, "we are both 68 years old, if we don't start scratching things off the bucket list when will we do it". This was the 3rd vette for the guy and boy was it taken care of. The car is immaculate with all things original and only 41K miles. He offered to sell it to her (she had to write the check) for $15,000.
So done deal. We flew to NO the next day, gave the man the check and drove it back to Florida. To tell the truth I don't know which one of us is enjoying it more. We have had it now for 4 months. The only thing I have done is to have an XM radio installed for her.
Now we have a wedding to go to on October 1st in Asheville, NC. We are so looking forward to the trip in the vette. I am already planning the route to stay off the Interstates as much as possible. We both are retired and in no hurry.
I have some other friends who are vette owners and they are all telling me that we have to make a side trip to drive the Tail of The Dragon. We are still discussing that part of the trip.
I am glad to be here and after looking around the forum I know it will be a wealth of information for the many questions I am sure that we will come up with.
