Hello from New York
Hello everyone, Glad to be a member here. I keep coming coming back here to read the tech articles so I figured it was time I join in on the fun. I'm building my 3rd Kit Car now in 20+ years, the 1st one was based on a VW pan and #2 is a Fiero based Italian replica. This latest one is a scratch build mid-engine custom with a tubular chassis along the lines of the Factory Five GTM Racer, with Corvette suspension and steering. I'm looking forward to meeting the members here and hopefully I can add something to help out along the way. All the best

Hello Murray, As I get my chassis drawings together I've collected a C5 rear suspension and a C4 front steering & suspension, along with a Boxster 5-speed and flywheel. These help get the general layout of all the major pick up points of my chassis. Thanks for your interest, Vinny

Thank you for the warm welcome, I'm creeping along with my chassis layout but I first need to establish my suspension pick up points to incorporate them in the design. I'm a big advocate for using off the shelf parts before going to the machine shop and having something custom machined. For the rear axles I've ordered 2 Porsche 930 CV's to replace the C5 inner joints. These should have the correct 28 inner splines along with the 6-bolt outer pattern to match the Boxster transmission's output flanges. I'll mock it all together on the shop floor and see what my rear track is. The front C4 suspension will remain in original geometry on the new chassis. -Vinny

Looks interesting -- don't think you mentioned your choice of engine

Thanks Raff, I'm running a stock V6 Audi 2.7 bi-turbo which will bolt right up to the Porsche 5-speed. Working further on the chassis layout tonight. -Vinny
