    Biography
I am best know as "DUB". I opened my own custom Corvette shop in 1985 with nothing more than the desire to set a standard of excellence and quality in Corvette repair and I have strived to perform that on every job. I have paid dearly to the "school of hard knocks" and the knowledge I have acquired is priceless to me now. I do minor repairs to full off-frame restorations as long as quality and craftsmanship do not suffer. My reputation speaks for itself.

    Hi Dub,

Well I'm getting back to working on my car again. It's been two years since I did anything to it at all. I was going to give you a call one day and talk to you about my body work. Are you busy right now with other work? I'm sure you are usually busy. Let me know what your schedule looks like.

    Hi Dub,

Are you still part of this site? I am looking for engine advise in my 82. I had a 383 built with forged parts, flat pistons, .030 over. I tried to have a guy tune it that is apparently the only guy in Washington, but I am completely not satisfied. I am considering converting to carburetor and I know this will mean several changes. I am looking for power gains, but also driveability. The transmission is a 700r4 overdrive and currently has a 2200 stall. I am willing to spring for nice heads, cam swap, ect. I would like to know about hood clearance issues as well. Any advise would be helpful.

    Thank you,

I need some help with Buddy (my silver 82).
I had all the AC stuff replaced, but the guy said there was an electrical short somewhere that kept if from working right. He jumped a wire and showed me that the AC works. Anyway, I need that fixed.
I also need the rear U-joints replaced. Can you help me?

Dub, this is Bob Messina. Two questions: 1, do I run any risk of contaminating the fiberglass if I use "Aircraft Stripper" for paint removal?

2 - The reason I ask is as follow - I am re-doing a 69. But I also have a 63, that my Dad had before me. I stripped it with Paint stripper for a corvette - probably 2o years ago. Today, the paint has many paint blisters. Now it could be from the humidity -when he moved here, Charleston SC, it sat under a cover for two years. The paint is VERY soft - so I am not sure. Thus my reason for question 2. I know I am going to have to repaint the 63 - what is the best way to make sure the bubble will not return?

Hi DUB, how can I get a copy of the subject you referenced in a earlier message "Then I install the bumper bracket in the illustration which is #14." I'm looking for a copy of the "illustration" you made referenced, dated 12-17-2016 16:26 PM.

    Thanks for the help.

    hello DUB,
I started sanding down my '74 for some body work prime & paint,It had spider web cracks and some chips. the car was originally white and sometime in the 90's it was repainted '91 corvette turquoise metallic. anyway from what i can see they stripped the whole car to the base glass and worked up from there as I see no evidence of the original white paint and the prime layers are that desert tan and grey, the body is straight as can be with no waves (looked great) but had checking and spider webbing on the tops of the fenders and on the nose. as I DA'd the paint in those area's I found that those spider web/star patterns are not just in the paint & primer they are in the fiberglass. my question is how do I combat that from coming through the new paint? do I just skim coat over that again, smooth prime & paint or? a friend suggested filling the "star" cracks with resin, sand it and skim over it with filler?

    Hey DUB,

I started removing sealant and factory gunk from the wiper compartment area. Some of the black sealant they used appears to be soft and tar like substance and under that it appears to be harder sealant that was squeezed out during part clamp up. I want the area to look nice when I am done so I prefer to remove the harder squeeze out bead at the edges of mating parts and reseal some kind of aftermarket sealant. I would like to get your opinion on this and I am sure you want to see some pics. I could post this on a general forum, but I don't really want to get opinions of everyone. I was planning to bring the car down to a shop to have the computer programmed, but this may need to wait as I might not want it exposed to the weather at this time. Let me know what you think about this topic when you can.

    Thanks,

On 06-11 At 2.00 pm we were hit by a lightning strike 30 feet outside the service department door. We were without power until we closed at 5.00 PM.

The phones are now up and running, but we are having computer issues ( of all the machines in the buildings, only two are currently working). Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon but for now if you have a question about anything,...... please call.

The emails to sales, service and support are still not working and our IT guy is on vacation until next week.... I hate to say it.. but pick up the phone and call if you have any question at this point there is nothing else we can do. -Willcox
