Hey Charlie. The shop I used is here in Stuart. Lane’s Trim Shop. They specialize in interiors and convertible tops.

I had used them for adjustments to the top on my C5 when I had it. Taking the C6 to them was no issue for me. I left it with them, they kept it for three days (inside) and gave me back a great finished product, maintaining the original seat covers with the new bottom driver seat cushion (GM cushion that they supplied) installed.

Bill (the owner of the shop) knows his business and advised me about the problem with the seat uppers working through the covers at the lower edges. He removed the covers, padded the area that is subject to failure and fixed the area before it became a problem.

Absolutely no electical problems/glitches due to his shop’s work on the seats. I also had him install a center console cover that matches the interior and seat pattern. $550 covered the labor for everything. My 11 year old interior looks great and is very comfortable now.

I'm interested in the near future getting this done to my driver's seat too! My 08 only has about 18K on it now, but it's just a matter of time. I'm located on the West coast near Tampa. Would it be possible to get the info on the upholstery shop you had this done at? Do they have experience taking these seats out, and re-installing them without creating electrical hiccups?

When I read your post about TPI being difficult to work on it puzzled me. It has only one moving part, the throttle plate.

I am by no means an expert but I am curious as to what have you run in to that you found difficult to work on?

I have to assume that your message was the bottom one and that the forum screwed up again!

At any rate, having r&r'd the heads on my 87 Vette a couple of times, I swore I would not go through it again. The hidden torx bolt on the AC compressor, the torx bolts that can barely be gotten to via a plethora of 1/4" drive extensions, the lack of room around the rear of the distributor, on and on. Give me a straight forward carb'd engine anytime. I guess I am just stuck in the dark ages. Of course it did not help to have used junk Mr. Gasket oversized runner gaskets that were a bitch to prevent wrinkling (needed the oversized gaskets due to porting the original runners, plenum, intake base, heads, and exhausts - which helped performance greatly!).

And then there is the brilliance of design engineering that forces you to remove the plenum to remove the injectors. Injectors are a fairly common mode of failure in the TPI engines and have gone through a few redesigns - mine was only on the 2nd set, but the new owner has symptoms that says they need replacement again - at only 106K miles.

I could go on, but you get the gist of what I am saying.
