Default Hello from denver, co! Any shop suggestions?

Hello everybody!

I recently bought a 1985 corvette and I'm eager to learn more about it. My dad had one while I was growing up and I told myself that I'll buy one just like it eventually. After years of searching, I finally found one in a great condition, 70k miles, same paint, same interior, same year, and even same rims! The only difference is that it's a manual and I prefer that.

I am wondering if anybody knows a reliable shop to fix a few minor things and get it ready for a drive from denver to San Francisco by the end of the month? I heard bad things about corvette connection and good things about corvette city. Any comments or suggestions?

Thanks!

Corvette Connection has good reviews. The owner races and appears to be a good person. I use Rocky Mountain Competitive Research (RMCR) in Colorado Springs.

What kind of thing are you looking to have done?

I myself will stay way clear of C.C.!!

For now:
Fixing driver's side power window because it would not go all the way up.
Fixing power antenna because it won't go back down
Replace weather strippings
Top off fluids/oil change/check spark plugs
General inspection to see if there are any other safety concerns that needs to be addressed.

Depending on the time needed:
A/C doesn't blow cold air, not sure it's normal when sitting out in the sun but I had to turn it off and lower the windows because I couldn't wait any longer than a couple mins in that sweatbox.

Next month:
Straight pipes
CAI
Tune
Better tranny with short throw shifter

I just needed it to be reliable enough for a drive from Denver to California and back by end of the month. I'll have it detailed a couple days before the drive so it'll be fantastic.

Looking at the items you want fixed, I would take it to Purifoy, which is a local Chevy dealer specializing in Vettes.

Purifoy has been dealing in Corvettes for decades and those guys are straight shooters.

I have used Purifoy now a few times. Their shop rate is not the cheapest you will find but the customer service and service in general is top notch. They will also help with mods... Most dealers are on the "we only do OEM" band wagon... Good luck!!!!

I work with and help run the Performance Center at Harchelroad Motors in Imperial Nebraska which is about 3 hours East of Denver. I know that there are closer options around the Front Range but it is worth your time to speak with Cody Jantz the Lead Corvette Technician at the speed shop. Cody does anything from Oil Changes to Supercharger installs and also has an in floor dyno right next door in an adjacent building. If you're interested in at least picking his brain about your plans for your Corvette call him at (308) 882-4151. Cody Jantz with Harchelroad Motors of Imperial Nebraska. Emich Chevrolet in Lakewood is a good alternative to Purifoy if you don't want to drive to Ft. Lupton which can be a trek. They all charge about the same shop labor and are best entered with deep pockets.

^ However, if you're buying a new Corvette, you may find that Purifoy will give more discounts than other dealers in the state, as Purifoy is the 36th top Corvette dealer in the country, and most certainly sells more Corvettes than any other in the state.

Of course, that's nowhere near the volume of Kerbeck or Mac Mulkin, which may get a better deal than Purifoy, but for those who like to see before they buy...
