How was your Carlisle Hotel ?
I stayed at he Holiday Inn in New Cumberland and it worked out well. The have a nice bar, decent restaurant, etc. and the room was clean. About $137 per night including tax. It's about 30 minutes from the Fairgrounds but with some traffic took 45 minutes.
Next year I was thinking of moving closer to the fairgrounds. While the weekend is still fresh in everyone's mind I thought I would ask what amenities your hotel had and how would you rate your hotel experience?

Bazinga!
The Holiday Inn at Mechanicsburg was / is a decent hotel, Bar and Restaurant and even a nightclub if interested
It's an older Holiday Inn and shows it in a few spots but it suited us well.

We stayed at the Days Inn in Carlisle. It's about 4 miles from the fairgrounds. All back streets from the fairgrounds to the hotel. 15 minutes MAX drive time. $140 a night with a 3 night minumum BUT I am willing to pay it. The rooms are clean. The staff at the hotel can't do enough for you.

Holiday Inn Mechanicsburg. They only had a handicapped room for me, but it was clean and looked recently redone. I'd reccommend it. Stayed at the Hampton Inn Carlisle before too and it was nice, but pricey. The Ramada Inn Carlisle............well, it's a good thing the only thing I did there was sleep. Lets leave it at that.

Hey John,
We stayed at the Red Roof Inn, North Harrisburg. It was just off I-81 and about 20 minutes to Carlisle. $73/night and decent room. No pool, but we just wanted a bed. In Harrisburg, we also went to the National Civil War Museum (incredible) and Appalachian Brew Company for an awesome/inexpensive dinner and their own beers.

For Corvette I've stayed forever at the Super 8 in Carlisle on Rt.11, just north of the Turnpike. It's nothing special, it's clean, with the typical breakfast in the morning. It's about 10-15 minutes to the field and I have a back way that takes no longer, that the hotel's owner showed me years ago, for when the traffics bad. $365 + tax for 3 nights and $79 for Weds.
For the Spring and Fall swap meets I had been staying at the Carlisle Quaility Inn on Rt. 11 north, right at the Rt. 81 exit. This is a very nice motel, with large clean rooms, breakfast and a bar. Unfortunetly, they've become very pricey!!, wanting $158.00 a night plus tax starting on Tues for Spring and Fall and Weds. night for Corvette. A friend and I split the room in the spring and fall, but at over $350.00 each for the 4 nights, we're thinking about going elsewhere.

We stayed at the Red Roof Inn in Carlisle. It was convenient to the fairgrounds. But the hotel has a lot of maintenance problems (exterior security doors that don't close to name one). We paid $129 for what was usually a $54.99 room. We will stay elsewhere next time.

Two years ago we stayed at Best Western in Carlisle, very nice only $110 /night. Last year we couldn't make it. We booked Best Western next year $169 / night ! with taxes it comes out to $185 /night, their normal rate is $89/night. This year we stayed at Motel 6 in New Cumberland (never stayed @ Motel 6 before), WHAT A DUMP! They said it was remodeled, I guess they call a repaint remodeled. Stains on the bed spread, broken lamp, ripped lamp shades and many families LIVING THERE, kids running around all night long. NEVER AGAIN @ MOTEL 6, it's true you get what you pay for.

Retired & lovin' it!
Marriott Residence Inn just off Rt. 11 in Carlisle....1/2 mile East of the PA Tpk entrance & maybe 3 miles from the Fairgrounds. Relatively new....very clean & comfortable rooms....free breakfast....and the management had set up a wash point at the rear of the parking lot. Not sure of cost since I used "Marriott Points".

I love when a thread that is 5 years old is revived so we can all update. We stay at the Days Inn South 2 miles from Carlisle. $121 a night. EXCELLENT hotel, clean, free hot breakfast in the morning. We make our reservations for the next year when we check in to be sure we have a room.
Only bad thing this year was that the steakhouse near the hotel burned down so if you wanted dinner nearby, you either had to walk to the McDonalds, or cross the highway to the diner or Arby's.

I stayed in Chambersburg @ the Hampton Inn
30 minute ride north into the show but no traffic jams or issues
The Hampton Inn was well cared for with staff that where just great to work with.
Free breakfast every morning, 130.00 per night
Safe & Quite
Ample parking for trailers if desired
Cracker barrel and Bob Evans right outside
I found Windy Knoll Amish Farm market about 7 minutes away - & what a blast to drive this back road - no more than 1/8 mile without a twist turn or whoopy hill
Bought some fresh peach's, peach pie and peach dumplings to bring home.
Great 1st Carlisle

We were also disappointed to see that Bonanza is gone but found a few other places fairly close.
We also are booked for the next year when we check in. Don't want to lose this place, it's that nice!

Since I started this thread just over five years ago and have gone to Carlisle every year since I guess I should comment.
The Holiday Inn referenced in post #1 is now the Clarion (New Cumberland). Same place, lower cost. Last couple of years I've paid $309 including taxes (AAA rate). Have reservation for 2015 too. I like having a restaurant and bar in the hotel. Very short walk to a diner, Pizza Hut and Bob Evans - all are sort of in the hotel parking lot.
