I just got an email from the NCM and the Board of Directors has voted to fill in the sinkhole. After they looked at the estimated costs of retaining the hole, it was determined that filling the hole would be much cheaper ($1MM cheaper!). The hole will remain until mid-late November at which time the filling work will begin.
Of the 8 cars that fell in, Chevrolet will restore the '09 Blue Devil ZR-1 prototype and the white '92 vert that is the one millionth Corvette produced. The restoration of the black '62 will be paid for by Chevrolet and the work will be done by the NCM through a restoration shop.
The remaining cars will stay as-is and become a future display at the NCM.
