My father and I are looking at attending our first trip to the 2016 BASH, as he's surprised me with the idea of heading up there just yesterday. I have spoken with Karen at the Corvette Museum to get the basics about the events and area. We do not plan on bringing our Corvettes up and more than likely will be flying in from ATL, CLT, or GSP.

Any suggestions on where to stay, things to do (besides the factory tour), and any tidbits of wisdom? Probably stay for the weekend and head back home Sunday night or Monday morning.

You'll really enjoy the event. Lots to see and do. Easiest thing to do is to go on the NCM website and find events, the select the Michelin NCM Bash link and you'll find the daily agenda of things to do. Just decide all the things you are interested in. When you're not doing something specific, you can easily just tour the museum, walk around the parking lot and take pictures of your favorite looking Vettes (hundreds if not thousands), head over to the Motorsports Park, etc. but you don't want to miss the announcements on what's new for the 2017 Vettes, the reveals on new colors, and the meet and greets with the Corvette executive brass.

As far as a place to stay, there are a bunch of hotels on Scottsdale Rd (I think that's the name) Exit 22 off I-65, including Hampton Inn, Baymont, Drury Inn, Marriott Courtyard, Hilton Garden Suites, etc. we're staying at the Holiday Inn, which is right next door from the convention center where the Saturday night banquet is held - mainly because they have a nice bar!

Without your Vettes, you'll have to park on the grass across the street because they reserve all the NCM parking for Vettes only. Also, sign up ASAP for the plant tour (through the museum) if you haven't already done so.

There's a number of good places, but more chain-like, such as Montana Grill, Rafferty's, etc that are popular. But if you don't mind a little hole in the wall grease pit, the absolute local BBQ place is called Smokey Pig. We usually go there for lunch at least a couple of the days. Bon Appetite!

Any other happenings around town? As Friday and Saturday Corvette events are booked solid and we'll end up running around some.

Nothing special that I know of - we usually head out to dinner and back to the bar 😜!

One night we went out to dinner and we got into a discussion with our waitress (can't remember if it was Rafferty's or Montana Grill), and come to find out she's the star on the local Roller Derby club. So the next night we went to the roller derby and had a great time. Hot dogs and beers were $1 each!! Heck, we might look that up again this year - Ha

Wondering if there will be any openings for golf Thursday since I am already in Bowling Green, but did not pre register for the golf event?
