CFNE Remembers - 9/11/2001
Because I think it is important to remember what those bastards did that day, and never forget the many innocent lives that were lost, I dug this thread out of the archives.
Where were you when it happened?
Ed, our beloved DVL, started that thread in 2005. I read it again last year, and again today. It moved me then, and it moved me today.
I sincerely apologize if it rips open any old wounds, or if it causes anyone pain to read these things. That is not my intent. If it hurts too much, please don't open the link. You have my apologies, my sympathies, and my condolences.
I am just afraid that as time passes, 9/11/01 will become just another day, and the meaning will be lost.
What I mean is: How many people even think of the reasons that we commemorate Veterans Day or Memorial Day? Those are now just days we have off, where we can have a 3 day weekend and a reason to have a BBQ.
The media have already begun the process of sanitizing, politically correctizing 9/11. They refer to that horrible day as "the events of 9/11." I'm sorry. They're just plain wrong. 9/11 was not an event. The Super Bowl is an event. The Mardi Gras is an event. Let's call it what it was. It was an attack. A cowardly one at that.
Over three thousand people who went to work that bright sunny Tuesday morning didn't make it home to their loved ones that night.

I will never forget that day - moment by terrifying moment and do not wish to go over it again
Tomorrow, I will remember what we have lost and pray for those who are still suffering and will continue to suffer ......................

Just this weekend I was chatting with a family on my block who lost their Father and Husband that day . His daughter has since gotten married and he would have had his first grandchild had he still been here - He was my Father in Laws close friend for 30 years and is dearly missed . Every time I see this family it infuriates me . I remember clearly driving to work on the Belt that day as the ashes fell on the road like rain thinking how none of our lives would ever be the same ... I see these conspiracy nuts and I really want to tear them apart.
Let us NEVER forget the COWARDLY TERRORIST ATTACK (yes that is what it was, not an act of war ) that was forced on innocent civilians and the heroes and loved ones we lost that day

A time of complacency has long ago come upon us. In the short time since these attacks, and largely due to the media and politicos, the populace has fallen into the grasp of apatheia and Stoicism. The words, 'Never Forget', are just that ... words. Political correctness has turned this once great power into a kowtowing bunch of wimps and emasculated, lily-livered, gutless jellyfish.
However, in spite of all its' shortcomings, no one loves this great country more than I.
The pictures of those planes flying into our beloved towers, and the aftermath thereof, should be shown on a daily basis in the hope that we will stay as mad and infuriated as we were on that day. One can only hope.

I lost 35 close friends, co-workers and acquaintences at the Pentagon on September 11, 2001 and spent the next two and half months in the hospital recovering from 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 38% of my body.
I would ask that if you are not able to visit Ground Zero tomorrow, to pause in a moment of silence to remember those who were taken from us in New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
My wife and I will be attending memorial ceremonies at the Pentagon tomorrow morning to remember our friends who were killed, visit with their families and remember why we are so fortunate to live in the greatest country on earth...God Bless the USA
Thank you CFNE for not forgetting what happened that day...

A moment of silence will be observed at my school. I can't imagine any American can or will ever forget the tragedy that occurred on 9/11/2001.
God bless the families and friends that lost loved ones
Thank you to the firefighters, police, and all who volunteered their time during that horrific time.

Like everything else in society today, our memories are short. It's amazing how the horrors of that day are sugar coated now or simply ignored.
I vividly recall the plane flying by the conf. room where I had a meeting, then the people covered in dust walking around manhattan like ghosts later that day. It was also very sad to see the thousands of people at the armory in Manhattan the next few weeks looking for loved ones.
That said, it was a day when the people of NY really showed their compassion -- as everyone was walking home throughout the city, it was amazing to see people helping, offering rides, giving people water, lining up to donate blood, and just plain being cordial to each other.
