Default Pennsylvania temporary tag info please

I'm flying in to Philly to pick up a car on Friday. The seller does not do tags, but recommended an independent car lot next door that does do tags. These guys quoted me $150 for a paper temporary tag. I'm not tagging in PA, so there are no sales taxes, title work etc.

I checked on a PA-DOT site and it said the fee was $10. Anyone help me with the facts on this? I think they are just trying to do a number on me.

The place I'm going is in West Conshohocken, PA 19428.
If you can recommend a place to get a tag reasonable that would be grand!

Thanks for any help.

Every time I've bought or sold cars here privately; I've gone to a notary public to do the transfers. It never cost me that much. Try finding a private notary in the area you're buying the car and talk to them first. A lot of them work from their houses and can do the same services as a dealer for a lot less. Also; AAA does it in Pa. also if one of you is a member. I'm not sure what's open on Good Friday.

You only need a tag and insurance to drive the car. It does not have to be a PA Tag. All that I've ever had to do is have a title that is signed over to me by the owner. Bring a tag with you and get a temp insurance card from your agent and you should be good to go.

Listed below is a link to tag services near where you'll be.

So what are you buying anyway?
