Default "Back to the Beach" Weekend Follow-Up

There are so many positive things to say about this year's "Back to the Beach" weekend in Old Orchard Beach, Maine that I hardly know where to begin. Maybe I should start by just saying that if you didn't go, or if you haven't been before, you are missing out on a fantastic time...and you'd better lock in June 11-14 for 2009!

Ralph and Sandie started this low-key, non-show weekend for Corvette owners five years ago. They wanted to introduce a weekend that was for people to get together, to renew old friendships and to make new ones without the hassle of a judged show. Who would have thought that it would become so popular in five short years!! And one of the reasons it has become so popular is because of Ralph and Sandie themselves. No one puts as much time, effort and their own money into planning such a well-organized getaway with options for everyone. For them, it's all about making everyone happy...and they sure do!

This year marked the fifth year, and everything worked together to make this mini-milestone a huge success! The weather was absolutely perfect...ask those who spent time on the beach and in the motels' pools. Each of the three motels had cocktail parties on Friday evening where everyone could mingle and meet new people. The food at the Captain's Galley was as delicious, as always, and what about the great DJ, Richie O, who played for us both Friday and Saturday nights. The plaques that were given to all attendees were gorgeous, as were this year's t-shirts.

Please visit the "Back to the Beach" website -- www.back2thebeach.net -- and take a look at this weekend's history. Check out the pictures, read the Guest Book entries, and most definitely make sure you let Ralph and Sandie know that you want to attend next year. What started out with 35 couples in 2004 has grown to 100 couples today, five short years later. There will not be any more than 100 rooms so be one of the first to book!
