Long Island Auto Storage??
Any Indoor auto storage facilities located in the long island area? Winter is coming and the Z needs a good place to hide!

Why put it away? You guys on Long Island have it made . When your'e getting rain, it's usually the white stuff up here, but I manage to get it out on the weekends, plus it always gives you something to look forward to .

Is you property too small, or is it because you dont own a area big enough to store it, why dont you get one of those vinyl garages, or just cover it, with a decent vette cover?

If you have the room on your property those car bubbles look pretty good. Buy it once and use it year after year.
I remember hearing about a place somewhere near Mineola a while back, but can't remember the details.
I also remember seeing something advertised in the Special Interest paper a few years ago too, but haven't picked up a copy of it in a long time.
Try looking for a copy of Special Interest and thumbing through it. I remember sometimes finding it in 7-11.

If your talking about the indoor car capsule I have used one and its nice. Just remember u need room around the car to beable to zip the zipper on the bottom. Its a much more pliable material than the outdoor version. Another problem I found with the outdoor capsule was when snow sits around it and melts it finds its way into the floor of the capsule through the zipper. Hence water on the floor of the capsule.

Have a single car garage but with the Flares on the Z and a couple of other variables, it makes parking in the garage risky without scraping the sides or mirror and just dont want to take the chance! Also am currently using the NOAH cover which is great but would like to store it indoors! Looking at the options right now!! Thank you everyone for your replies...looking into those locations

I drive my Vette and 68 GTO up until there is sand or salt on the road, then I put them away until we get enough rain to wash the streets clean. It's pretty hilly (for Long Island) where I live so the Village sands the roads pretty good.
Last winter the cars were only laid up for about 6 weeks and the year before I may have only missed two or three weeks in total. I've got a picture of the Vette with the top down laying around somewhere taken around the second week of January 2007, the temperature was in the high sixties.
In past years the GTO was stored for 3 or 4 months at a time, but the last couple of winters have been pretty light as far as snow. Hopefully the trend will continue.
Either that, or we're due to get clobbered.

Yeah we're past due to get clobbered. We've been having pretty calm winters last couple of years. Not a real reason to store the car for the few weeks it stays in.

I'm thinking I'll wait until Thanksgiving weekend and see how it goes, but I might add Stabil to the tanks and top off the tires that weekend just in case things get worse fast. My cars are almost always hooked up to the Battery Tender's in the garage anyway, especially if I know I won't be drving them for a week or so.
This was taken 1/7/07. I think it was close to 70 degrees that day.
