Default Siphon gas from a C5?

Hi all,

Gas is getting incredibly hard to get in my area, lines a half a mile long at most stations. I have my C5 up on the lift - can anyone give me an idea of the easiest way to siphon/drain the fuel from it so I can run my generator?

Thanks

I've siphoned gas from my 97 Camaro before, it was pretty straightforward. I just used a 3-4' piece of 1/2" or so clear tubing. A hand pump attachment works best but you can do it the old fashioned way in an emergency. You probably won't get a lot from a c5 because of the two separate tanks.

Pop the fuel line off the fuel rail and energize the pump. I don't have access to schematics right now and won't until tonight but you should be able to pull the fuel pump relay and jumper 2 terminals. Hopefully, someone can help with the terminals to use.

Oh, if you have a scan tool or a tuning program like HPTuners, it should be able to command the fuel pump on.

Thanks - was hoping there was an easy way to drop the tank cover on the dirvers side and use one of the connectors.

I'll try and siphon the traditional way first.

Keep the ideas coming please!!

where do you live? I have ten gallons in two portable tanks I didn't use.
Maybe I can meet you somewhere.

Wow, thanks so much.

I am in Bridgewater but I think I am OK for now.

I was able to scare up a few extra cans and fill them yesterday. Rumor has it is may be another week to get power back.

The easiest way to get gas out of your C5 is put a hose on the outlet on the fuel rail and run the pump.

Release the pressure by depressing the scrader valve. then remove it.
put a hose on the end and put other end into your gas can.

pull the pump relay from the fuse box it's #35.

insert a wire into #s 30 and 87 under the removed relay and with the ignition switch on the pump will run.

Good luck getting through this ordeal.
