*official 2014 corvette caravan info - northeast forum info
The purpose of this thread is to try and keep all of the talk about the upcoming 2014 National Corvette Caravan in one thread for all the Corvette Forum owners in the North East part of the Country.
This is not too take away from the actual Caravan web pages of the Captains and their home states, but rather to allow folks to share stories, pictures, advise, and the camaraderie that goes along with this great event.
First if you are not familiar with what the Caravan is all about, let me briefly explain. It's a rolling Corvette show from all points across North America (and beyond) that allows Corvettes from all generations to converge in Bowling Green, Kentucky for a celebration of the National Corvette Museum (NCM). Every region of the Country has a "Captain" responsible for planning the event to insure that you have a safe and enjoyable time on the journey. The National Caravan is held every five years to celebrate the Anniversary of the NCM. The next Caravan is planned for the last week of August 2014, ending over Labor Day weekend at the NCM, which will celebrate the Museum's 20th Anniversary.
This is a great video published by the NCM to sum it up as well.
For the folks in the Corvette Forum North East your area Captains are as follows,
Randy Flock for New England, Upstate NY and Eastern Canada
John Jack and Jeffrey "Zipity" Duda (Me) for New Jersey, plus some of Eastern PA, and New York Islands
Ron Hamrah for Delaware, Maryland, DC and West Virginia
Ernie Naugle for PA and Central NY
Barry Pinney for Ohio and Western PA
You can go to www.corvettecaravan.com for all the details on the event and each Captain has their own web page, just choose the State from the drop down box or follow the links below. The Captains contact information is listed on each of the web pages.
RANDY & NEW ENGLAND
http://www.corvettecaravan.com/newengland/
JEFF & NEW JERSEY
http://www.corvettecaravan.com/nj/
RON & MID-ATLANTIC
http://www.corvettecaravan.com/midatlantic/
ERNIE & PA & CENTRAL NY
http://www.corvettecaravan.com/pa/
BERRY & OHIO & WESTERN PA
http://www.corvettecaravan.com/oh/
Be sure to read through each of the planned routes and activities from each State and see what fits into your schedule or what peaks your interest.
You have the CHOICE to drive and register with ANY State's Caravan you wish too.
You can sign up NOW on the National Corvette Museum's web site. The Captain's have been hard at work on this event for the past few years blocking off room reservations along the route, planning meals, interesting destinations, and other fun events to insure a great time. You can purchase the official NCM Caravan flags and window clings from your Captains, plus some Captains have their own merchandise to sell as well. New England and New Jersey have some great merchandise to choose from on their web sites.
Some Captain's have events planned for this year, so be sure to see what's going on in your area to learn more about the event or to attend one of the local Meet & Greet Events.
Some of the highlights from each Caravan;
New England has a great kick off weekend scheduled with a track day at Lime Rock Park on Saturday August 23rd and doing a Civil War journey with a stop at Keeneland Thoroughbred Race Course.
New Jersey will be starting on Sunday August 24th and our first stop is the Corvettes at Carlisle Show. On the journey we have reservations to drive on Kentucky Speedway and spend two nights at a Riverboat Casino & Spa Resort. Pennsylvania has plans to join the NJ group on this itinerary.
Mid Atlantic is starting the trip on Tuesday August 26th and headed to Harry Grove Stadium and Douglas Motors for nice stop.
Ohio plans to start the trip on Tuesday August 26th, with a visit to the National Museum of the US Air Force.
And there are still talks between the Captains and the NCM about arranging Mega Caravans as we enter Bowling Green on Wednesday. In 2009 the Mega Caravan from this area was 6 miles long of Corvettes, led by the Kentucky State Police Escort. What a sight!!
So if you have questions about the event, contact your local Captain or post them here. If you traveled on past Caravans post up some pictures and tell your story about the event.
Thanks
Jeff, aka Zipity

Yes, It's going to be a good one! Visited South Shore Corvette Club in Weymouth, Ma last night. Great turnout and a lot of enthusiasm from the members. If your group or club would like a visit from one of the New England State Leaders and Captain just let us know. Randy

1bdvet said it well and glad to hear you are signed up with Florida.
Believe it or not the NJ Caravan has a few folks from Florida joining our Caravan. the reason being is those Floridians will be attending the 2014 Corvettes at Carlisle show and the NJ Caravan is departing from that show.

Just a note to thank Jeff and his crew for taking the time to address the Corvette Club of Northern Delaware last night. We have a number of members already committed and certainly more now entertaining the idea. Looks like this may be the best Caravan ever.
Appreciate the travel and time the local Captains and Leaders put into doing presentations for various clubs.
