Default Baltimore Grand Prix Cancelled for 2014-2015

It was announced today that the Baltimore Grand Prix, has been cancelled for the next 2 years.

The reason given was that there is a college football game scheduled for Labor Day weekend next year, and an American Legion convention the following year. Supposedly, IndyCar couldn't find another weekend, to fit it in the schedule. I'm guessing that it was more likely a money issue though.

From all I've heard, the race has always been a loser, money wise, and the scheduling "conflict" may just have given them a easy out. I suspect that there have been questions about the viability of the course too, considering all of the issues with wrecks blocking the track this year.

I'm not a fan of street circuits. Hopefully they go back to Watkins Glen or another real road course.

I'm all for IndyCar returning to The Glen, but NJMP would even be better (it's only 50 minutes from me ).

Between Indy Car and next year's United Sports Car merger, it's not surprising they cancelled the race. Too bad it was a cool venue, and I have heard that United Sports Car may be headed to the Glen, not certain about Indy Car.

The potential race in Weehawken doesn't seem to be getting much traction either.....

Went to all three Baltimore GP's. Fun but road course would be better.

Didn't Baltimore pour tons of money into getting the city ready for the race a couple of years back?
