Default Street Survival

This is a shout-out to members of the Northern Virginia Corvette Club who volunteered at the Tire Rack Street Survival event this weekend in Sterling, VA. My teen daughter gained a tremendous amount of invaluable experience today by spending hours tossing our black 2009 Rav4 Sport V6 AWD around the skid pad, slalom, figure-eight, accident avoidance maneuvers, emergency / threshold / ABS braking tests, and more (it was very autocross-like) in a friendly and safe environment under the watchful eye of a dedicated instructor. All parents should consider enrolling their novice drivers in such an event, as feeling and understanding how one's vehicle behaves in extreme situations while in a controlled environment builds confidence and prepares the driver for similar emergencies on public roads. Kudos to all who surely would have rather been piloting their Corvettes on a fall foliage run but instead invested considerable time to "pay it forward" for the next generation of driving enthusiasts!
