Default Woohoo! Just registered for Corvettes at Carlisle!

I just registered my son (6) and I for Corvettes at Carlisle! We got a room not too terribly far away in Mechanicsburg, so that'll work out well. He's super excited and so am I. I've had a number of cars, but never had something where there is such a large community of owners. Look forward to meeting lots of Corvette owners up there!

You will have a great time at Carlisle. My wife and I have stayed in Mechanicsburg when we go. From Mechanicsburg to the fairgrounds is only a 15 to 20 minute ride. Last year we went on the Caravan so we were only at Carlisle on Sunday.

I would like to go Vettes at Carlisle for the 1st time. Coild you suggest a
hotel in Mechanisburg. I have already checked out the hotels in Carlisle,
and most are already booked.
Thanks-jerry

Default Not so sure for this year

Been going to Carlisle since '05 but last year was somewhat of a disappointment....fewer "top line" vendors in attendance & less merchandise on display. I was really surprised that some of the big name retailers only had catalog ordering desks in their tents! Having second thoughts about attending this year. Anyone else have a similar feeling?

Default Registered for Carlisle

I called and resistered today. I was surprised to find out my
registeration for free, because my car is Carlisle Blue. Not bad
for a Monday.

Cool!

In light of the weather in DC today (Jan 6), it sure seems like a long way away!

For some time now all the big name vendors have been doing mostly catalog ordering at Carlisle. The state came in and put restrictions on the vendors and demanded their sales tax and fees etc. It made some vendors stay at home but most still come and offer discounts and free shipping. If you cant find what your looking for at Carlisle then you should look harder ..its there. Mechanicsburg offers lots of hotels to stay at...I know there are a couple new ones being built as we speak that will be open for the spring and early summer...just search for them. I have been through rainy weekends..hurricanes, tornados...heatwaves....I still seem to have a good time there. Yes your Carlisle Blue car gets in free..just call and they will send you a fun field sticker when they come out. Its a corvette wonderland there...

The atrocious weather probably had a lot to do with it. I ended up going (for the first time) on Sunday and most of the vendors had already given up and left. On the other hand, there was zero wait in "Installation Alley..." It is an easy drive for me so I look forward to giving it another shot this summer.

Corvettes at Carlisle is not about being able to buy goodies...you can do that any day of the week if you have a phone or a computer. It is about renewing friendships and spending time with people you don't see that often and also people you do see on a regular basis. It is all about the people and maybe learning something new about the car we all love!

My husband and I have been attending Corvettes at Carlisle for 17 years and wouldn't even consider missing it for any reason!!

Just a word of caution - check the mileage from your hotel to the Fairgrounds - Mechanicsburg addresses cover a huge area; including some areas 2-3 exits east on Pa Turnpike. That could be long hard commute with show traffic.

You're in for a great show, check out the Corvette parade on Sat evening. You and your son would have b;ast riding in the parade!! Good luck and emjoy!!
