Default Any Shop for the Z06 Muffler Mod in North NJ?

Hey folks,
Hope you are preparing your cars for the upcoming season. I would like to get the muffler mod done this month or next and the shop I normally go to wanted 5 hours of labor in Mahwah.

From my research it should only be about 2 hours at most. I have a PDF with step by step directions + pictures and am willing to bring the car to a local residence even if he/she has the tools and offer a hand.

I am willing to drive up to 1.5 hours from Bergen County NJ to get this done at a reasonable price, with careful attention to my car of course.

Thanks in advance!

I'm in Bergen County as well and I'd like to get this done before I put the mufflers on my car.

Any takers?

2 for 1 special??

I have read it should take about 2.5 hours first time, and 1.5 if you know what you're doing. I really don't think it's fair the shop wants 5 hours, but then again, they are the only guys I have went to in the last few years for custom work.

I'm not dying to get it done but it would be a nice mod for the spring while I sit around waiting for MSD Airforce intake results

EDIT: ok found a buddy who will do it for 100.. just need to get the exhaust off. Anyone know a place that rents our their lift? Removing a stock Z06 exhaust without cutting it requires a lift

From what I read it's not possible unless you get it 3 feet off the ground. You want to come help me out?
Yea I don't see why he wouldn't do it. He welds professionally, something this easy is a cakewalk for him

I was just looking at your instagram. You built a nice looking pair of race ramps last week. That'll be good enough for you to get them off!

It's a simple mod that makes the 06-10 Z06 exhaust louder. Usually takes about 1.5 hours to complete, maybe 2.5 if you are a first timer.

I have 2007 stock Z06 mufflers I would sell for $375. Might be able to meet you part way. You could then take them to a local shop and have the mod done for nominal $$$. Put them on yourself or have a shop install. Keep your existing muffler's or sell them and recoup your $$$. Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

These? https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-mufflers.html

If so, $800 is waaaay high. Your Z06 mufflers are identical aside from the section that the muffler mod would remedy.

In your opinion what is a good price? Also, there is no proof they are internally identical. No one has cut a zr1 muffler open to inspect the guts and find out for sure

About 3 years ago I bought a 2008 ( I think ?) ZO6 NPP exhaust from a member, and had Chuck at Corvettes of Westchester install that with a ZO6 exhaust manifold, and an NPP key fob controller on my 2006 vert with Vararam intake. Just press the button, and it goes from mild to wild anytime you want. At about 1800 RPMs on the highway, there is a rather annoying drone, so you either close the damper, or go faster!! LOL
