Frederick MD car (inspection/registration) help
Hey gang..
My son (Penn ST grad), recently moved from PA to MD and needs to get his car all Maryland'ed up, inspection registration, insurance etc..
Can someone PM me so we can talk on phone to guide him thru this?
He is unsure of where to go & how it all works.
Appreciate it!

If he (and you) haven't read http://www.mva.maryland.gov/vehicles...o-maryland.htm yet give it a read. It tells you what needs to be done from the MVA perspective. As far as finding an inspector...some independent mechanics will be certified, some of the chain places (Mr Tire, etc) will have someone who can do inspections, a lot of dealers will also have someone in their service department who can do inspections. Places who have an inspector on staff usually have a yellow sign up saying they do inspections and they will have a certificate inside the business (usually mounted on a wall somewhere) of the person who is certified to do the inspections.
For insurance, start calling different companies to start getting quotes for coverage. State Farm, Geico, Progressive, AllState, USAA, Prudential are just some of the companies which cover the state - I know there are others.
The MVA website mentions you can use a tag and title service to assist you - they will charge you a service fee so you are going to pay more. I don't know if the amount they can charge is regulated or not - but this first time for him it might be worth it if he is really that uncomfortable going through the process himself.

You can give Rick Kim a call @RKT Performance (301) 257-0930
He is located at:
5400 Yukon Court,
Suite 400
Frederick, Maryland 21703
He does all the work on my vette and my previously owned CTS-V. He might do inspections as well.

yes, he has like 35% tint on his car & no one will pass him for inspection, so he'll have to get it removed...
unreal that a car only has to pass inspection ONCE when its registered, and nothing ever again...!

Does he have the ability to tune? I'm in the market for long tubes to go with my exhaust, Halltech air intake and Vmax throttle body and want to find a local tuner.

I believe that he is still coordinating tunes with Jeremy Formato (FasterProms). Give Rick a call; he is a great guy to work with!

Rick has performed work on my car and I highly recommend him!
