Default Request for road info, 80/90 vs I80 to I84, early Nov

Appreciate any input in advance. This is not about a tour but point A to point B, with end point at 90/84 junction. I've never been this far East before, I'm guessing snow is possible and have day or two slack available. I know 80/84 is 20 minutes or so slower but don't know anything about tolls. Thanks for local input.

I'll give myself one TTT and try to be more clear. Is there any significant difference in the tolls on I90 vs I80 onto I84, heading East from Ohio into Mass? Also, is there much elevation difference going along the lakes, I90 vs going a bit south along I80? I'll be coming from Calif., and am following the weather to keep track of snow. Again, any input appreciated.

Google maps should be able to tell you about tolls. Can't say much about I90 but I80 in PA is what I use going out west from NJ. Lot's of trucks use it over night. My guess is there more snow along the lake, known as lake effect snow, just look up the snow fall Buffalo gets.

I wouldn't be too worried about snow in early Nov going either way. You're probably going to hit more traffic coming across I84 in CT than taking I90 all the way into Mass. Depends what time of day you come through as well. If you do go I80, go to I81 to I84 versus staying on I80 through NJ. Only tolls you'll hit that way are the Newburgh Beacon bridge and it's a few bucks. I90 has tolls after Springfield Mass, so it depends where you're going in Mass. Same thing though, only a few bucks. If you try going anywhere near NJ or NYC, expect a lot of tolls and traffic.

Thanks for the info on traffic and the I81 suggestion. Weather looking good, about time to visit Sturbridge may do one going in and the other leaving just to see more countryside.

I commute daily about 2 hours (due to traffic) from mid-CT up to Worcester.

Having explored much of this part of the country, I'd suggest you slide further north and enjoy both better scenery and potentially less traffic congestion. I prefer 90.

As stated above, yes, 84 is LOADED with troopers at times. I only suggest high speeds if you know all the camp spots and bridges. 70mph is safe. 75 is risky.

I've lived not far from Sturbridge when I used to own a horse farm in Ashford, CT. That was another lifetime/marriage ago now! But I know the region well, so if you're seeking destination suggestions just PM me on here and I'll be glad to help out.
