Default Any Corvette Owners with MGW shifter in lower MoCo, MD?

Looking for a Vette owner in lower Montgomery County, MD (Bethesda/Rockville/Silver Spring) with an MGW shifter who's willing to let me fondle it, and perhaps take it for a short drive around the block (accompanied, of course).

Have tried a B&M Sport in my car and found it requires too much effort. Stock C5 was too vague and rubbery. Stock C6 I currently have is decent.

I have an older MGW in my Mustang, and I really like it; I'm hoping the Corvette version feels similarly good. If so, I plan to get one, but I'd like to know how it feels before shelling out close to 4 bills in case I don't like it!

Thanks!

No where's near you, but I have two MGWs in both our Vettes and feel they are hands down the best shifter available for our cars. Callaway uses Kirban which feels very much like the MGW, but at much more of a price, and has adjustments (to fall out of) that the MGW doesn't. Just pull the trigger, you are on the right track.

Don't you mean you have a stock C5? Makes a difference.

Yes, like I said, "stock C5 was too vague and rubbery!"

Before buying into any of the aftermarket shifters I had bought a C6Z shifter for our C5 back in the day (the only difference between the two was the shifter "box" in the C6 wasn't insulated with rubber grommets to help in keeping the vibrations out of the shifter like that in the C5), and shortened the shaft by the amount of the threads, re-threading the 9/16x12 threads making it a more short throw shifter. It was just fine for the effort, but the pattern in the MGW is much tighter without the ratchetness of the B&M, and like shifters. Oddly enough the design of the MGW is that of a big rubber biscuit that centers the shifter to neutral in the H. (but believe me it doesn't feel "rubbery".)

Having driven all the shifters mentioned in this thread, I must suggest the Hinson shifter.

It is, hands down, the best shifter I've had the pleasure of using in a C5/C6.

Of course, I now drive an auto, but if I find myself in another manual trans vette, it'll have a Hinson shifter.

OP, best of success with your goals.

Not sure, Ed.
I tried out the shifter in Brian Hinson's C6 grand sport while out at Holley LSFest last September.

I believe my friend Andrew is getting one for his Z06.

BTW, they're having a heck of a sale right now thru Monday on the shifter and other products.
