2016 IMSA Corvette Corral Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen
Hello All, get ready to cross this off your bucket list! Corvette Corral tickets are on sale>>>And DO go to the Seneca Lodge Tavern Room for a beverage and DO drive the “Old Course”info below.
Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen
June 30 - July 3, 2016
Watkins Glen, OneLap of the Old Course 2010
Map of the original race course from back in the day

Seneca Lodge Tavern Room
3600 St Rt 419 Watkins Glen, NY 14891

In the Tavern Room, is about 5 miles from the race track>>rest awhile at the bar and take in the history of racing in Watkins Glen. The bartenders are quick to serve up a beer, conversation and a $2 bill. Behind the bar, laurel wreaths from the Formula 1 races of the 1970s hang from hundreds of arrows shot into the wall by ace archers who frequent the lodge for archery championships. Suspended from the ceiling are Tires from NASCAR champions. The Tavern Room has long been a hangout of racing mechanics.
Cheers!

Didn't know about this event. I did drive the Glen in my 98 Daytona Pace Car, and then got to go with one of the drivers for FAST laps. What a blast. I will definitely look into this event.
Anybody have any hotels to recommend? We stayed at Peak n Peek before, but it's a little drive to the Glen.

There is Seneca lodge which has been part of WGI for many years. I stayed once and a bit rustic, but it is close to the track. The bar area is worth a visit even if you dont stay there.
Glenora is a nice winery less than 30 min from the track. I stayed there every April at a discount when I use to run at the opening of the track. Every time in the area now I stop and pick up a case of their wine.
The Falls Motel is good and 10 mins from the track. I stayed there when I was not at Glenora and running the track.
Harbor Hotel looks nice, but never stayed there since they frowned upon trailers.
Many of these places fill up quickly so you can look at Corning/Elmira/Horeshead which is where I have stayed the last few years for the race weekend. There are a few Marriotts and other chain hotels in the area. Many of the race teams are at these hotels too. Last year I was watching the end of the NASCAR race with a handful of the drivers.
I purchase the Glen Club tickets which has food and drinks plus is indoors in case it rains.

Going again this year with my son and a few other CCND members.
Bad as the rain was last year the racing was fun and the Corral is great. We kept "semi-dry." So many great vantage points at the track. My favorite is the grandstand overlooking turn 10. Being a 6 hour race you can walk around and not feel like you are missing anything.
Do the original track -- you'll gain an appreciation how safety was just an afterthought 60 years ago! And don't miss the Glen itself. Really interesting and easy hike.
Staying at a dump in Horseheads. Just a place to sleep...

I purchased some tickets from a forum member for the corral and I've never been to Watkins Glen before. I looked in the packet I have here and I have no idea on how to get to the corral once I arrive. Does anyone know what gate to go in?
