But the sales tax is supposed to be reduced from 7 to 6 percent. Oh, but what the article doesn't say, is that's not happening right away. The sales tax is "supposed" to drop to 6.5% on 1/1/17, and 6% on 1/1/18.
What do you think the chances are that they will ever actually lower the sales tax. I'm know I'm not holding my breath, for that drop to come. Christie is going to be gone soon, and be replaced by a democrat. What democrat governor, is ever going to let a tax, in this State go down?

The gas tax was the one tax where NJ was low compared to other states, in NJ we had good gas prices vs other states.

Not 100%, but voted along party lines about 90% with Dems voting FOR the tax, and NJ Repubs against the new gas tax.

You gotta be f-ing kidding me. This state is ludicrous with all of these damn taxes and tolls. I just moved FROM California, now I'm just in the east coast version!

Yup, sales tax, state income tax, toll roads, high property tax. We currently have one of the lowers gas tax but not for long.

For the 4 years Corzine was Governor, all he ever wanted to accomplish, was to raise our gas tax, but he could never get his own party to support him on it.
Christie, as his parting shot, decides he's going to kiss up to the Trenton Democrats, and do what Corzine couldn't.....stick us with one of the highest gas tax rates in the country. What an a$$!

They stopped the repaving of Rt 36 as well, makes my commute much nicer. Not really sure why they were doing it in the first place, has to be at least the second (maybe third) time they have done it in my time.

It'all about the routine of "budget". If the governments (read; local, county, state, and federal) would just be financially responsible instead of this snowball effect of spending, the economy would prosper from it.
