Brake service for 94 in Central NJ
Hello,
I took my 94 Coupe to my local Chevy dealer - I have been dealing with them quiet a few years for my other cars and my Corvette, we know each other, I trust their work, diagnostics.
I had an oil change, multi point inspection, and --- I need pads, rotors, front and back. Brakes are original --- 72,000 miles, they also recommend flushing the brake fluid (which I agree every time brakes replaced, flush not just bleed).
After I heard the price --- I was ready to grab smelling salt.... you ready ?
$1,100.00 --------pads, rotors front and back, flush fluid, labor.
Now I only drive the car about ---- 1,500 miles a year, so I tabled that job for now.
Can anyone recommend a shop (Central NJ) that I can compare prices? does not have to be a dealer, I really need to see the price drop.
I no longer do my repairs as my lower back is not in the best condition, if the clock was turned back --- I would do the work myself, bu that is not the case.
So if anyone can recommend a shop(s) in Central NJ ---- that I can compare, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Bob

I trust Hendersons Service in Freehold with all service on my work truck, wifes daily driver, and my C5 and C6.
He not only is a honest and great guy but fellow Corvette owner who understands my car obsessions and paranoia.

Thanks

Thank you -- I appreciate the information. I checked their website, hey are not far from me - about 35/40 minutes, as I live close to the "Brunswicks" --- South/North Brunswick - in the middle.

I have always found dealers more expensive . Consider the overhead of a big fancy commercial building alone( property taxes utilities etc) is much higher than a smaller repair shop. Also at a dealer you don't know which tech will be servicing.
The quote the Dealer gave you sounds high , but I'm far from being a pro.

Thrust performance in South Amboy. Speak to Mike. Tell him I sent you if you go. He's great and a former vette guy. He's worked on most of my cars.
Very good, very honest.

I understand dealerships have HUGE overhead, but for anyone who is not comfortable with the pricing, brake jobs are a great DYI job.
Good Luck.

So I can recommend the shop I used to work for, Long Hill Auto Service in Millington, or I can recommend me.
Bring your own parts, $50 an hour. I have a full shop w/ lift at my home, plus, sometimes free beer.
