I don't get it.
Voting yes ensures the tax goes into the transportation fund. Voting no means the tax goes into the general fund.
Why would anyone want the gas tax to go into anything other than the transportation fund?
Sorry guys, don't see your point. And that video most certainly doesn't clarify anything other then that guy likes to hear himself talk.

Because the general funds has to be approved, if it goes straight into the transportation fund "we the people" have zero say in where it's spent.
For instance there was a light rail project somewhere in north Jersey that would have made life easier for a higher up in the dept, but wasn't fiscally sound so it was shot down a few years back. Now they can just decide to spend the funds on that.
A large portion of it can also be borrowed upon.
It's basically a scam, the sound of voting yes makes sense until you see what it's all about. 101.5 went well into depth about this, I'm just relaying a small portion and probably not very well.

Voting yes means they can borrow against the anticipated revenue generated by the new gas tax, essentially giving the government a 12 billion dollar slush fund.

Ok, so after a bit more research, I can see the issue.
But that idiot in the video doesn't help the cause.
Thanks.

It passed.
We have been duped - the misinformation campaign by the unions and the big banks fooled enough people to vote yes - idiots.
In a few years the gas tax will increase again, and again.

Yup, they will borrow against it too, to the point where the tax collected will all be going to pay back bonds and will will be in the same situation.
At least question #1 got voted down

They suckered me. I vote by mail so when I read the interpretation of Q#2 it seemed like a no brainer. Never heard this other crap until after I sent it in! I hate government. Go Trump!

Yea, the sneaky bastards did not fully explain the referendum implications. They should not get away with it and it should come back for a vote next election.

On a more positive note, and a topic that ALL of 2nd amendment folks rally for....
This has been LONG overdue. The analog; "If you can legally drive your car over state lines, comply with the new states rules and laws, then why shouldn't your Concealed Carry rights also work state to state?" God Bless and Keep Trump. If he's able to enact changes (or resurrect OLD ones BEFORE actually taking the oath of office to this degree, I'm a supporter with all my hopes. (read)....
