Default Any GM techs...Question about a 2016 Malibu

An employee of mine has a 2016 Malibu 1.5 liter turbo.

He doesn't like that it shuts down at a stop light.
Can this be rectified some how?
Thanks in advance for any help.

There is no easy way of shutting off the start/stop, but there are two "McGuyver" workarounds.
1 Unplug the warning switch under the hood for the "Hood ajar" light. This might set a CEL.
2 Put the shift lever in "M" and push the "+" button 5 times so "6" shows up on the DIC. The trans should upshift normally through all the gears.

It's still under factory warranty, why not take it to the dealer for freebies

It's a normal condition...The car shuts off, instead of an idle, at a stop light after it is up to temp.
Gas mileage thing I guess.
He wants a go around.

I wonder if HP tuners would show anything? the skip shift on the vettes has a min-engine temp, if the shut off has a min temp then setting it to 299 degrees would do the trick.

I think I would find this feature very annoying as well! I haven't driven any new cars with that feature but a few friends have not purchased a car because of it.

My wife just got a 2017 ATS with the start-stop feature, but in all the Cadillacs there is a button on the console that allows the driver to shut it off. However, salesman said that for 2018 and thereafter there'll no longer be the shut off switch.

The first time I ran into this "feature" was when I rented a car at an airport and was given a new--at the time--2015 Malibu. Agent never told me the car would shut off at every stop, so after it did so a couple of times--and obviously restarted automatically--I realized what was going on.

To get to end of my story, when taking the luggage out of the trunk, I noticed a little flap was open in the trunk liner covering the left fender and found a small, lawn tractor-type battery in there. I found out later that that battery controlled the stop/start feature. I don't know if the '16 GM cars still use that system, but it might be worth it for your employee to check into whether his car has this second battery system and if so, how to disable it.
