Engine builder or machine shop Sacramento Area
I am looking for a machine shop or engine builder in the Sacramento area. I have a 1965 327/365 hp block, crank, and heads I need machined and built with all new inners. It's the correct motor for my car so it has to be a very good shop. Can't afford any mistakes. Any recommendations?
Thanks,
Ken

I've been using Mother's Machine in Carmichael for about 10 years. I've never had a problem. Tell them Paul from Top Performance sent you.
Their # is 916-961-3625.

Hey Ken,
They can machine and assemble your engine, whatever you want done. A couple of of things to consider, the valve seats should be changed to hardened ones, if this hasn't been done already, they'll last longer with unleaded gas. You might also want to use lower compression pistons, the 11:1 that your engine came with will probably cause pinging on 91 octane. 10:1 should be OK. I've had several people bring me cars with 11 or 12 to 1 engines that rattle like a can of rocks, with no easy fix. I'd also recomend having the engine balanced, it'll make more power and run smoother, though it's still going to have a real lumpy idle with the stock cam .
Have fun,Paul
