Default 50/50 or higher windshield fluid?

Hi, does anyone know where I can purchase a 50/50 or higher windshield fluid? The auto part stores that I called said they don't carry such a high mix since it does not get really cold here in CA.

I am thinking about using windshield fluid for meth injection (for safety only and not for added power). This way I can still have my windshield washer function.

Its really hard to find Charlie. When I was doing this I had a buddy at an auto parts store order some and not sell it through the store, I dont have that connection anymore though. It was made by Peak and it was called Deicer -30* and it was purple in color.

And even that stuff is only 30% methanol. It is hard to find in CA because I heard it was illegal to sell.

What do you guys think about the idea of purchasing 100% meth and then mix it with 50% distilled water. Then I would know that I have 50/50 or even make it 60/40. My question now is, is there any downside using this mixture for cleaning my windshield?

I don't know how safe it is for your paint or anything. Why not just run 100% methanol. At prices now, it is probably just about the same price as the window washer fluid per gallon.

Most of the Chevron stations that have the larger inside stores carry the below 32 degree windshield washer fluid here in the bay area.

Don't really want to install another tank for meth and I still want to use my windshield washer, it comes in handy in some of our cruises. (bugs)

Does anyone know how 50/50 meth/water mix will effect the paint?

Actually, I just called them and all they have is the standard fluid which is good up to 32F and not the ones with high meth with is rated for much lower temp.

Any station in the mountains sells the washer fluid rated for below freezing. Even Auburn I think. That said, I use 50/50 in my truck for both meth injection and window washing with no problems.

Charlie..get the washer fluid and cut it 50% with the methanol...that should be ok.
I live on the edge and use 100% methanol

Methanol is $6.00 a gallon at Hubbard's in American Canyon. It might be hard on wipper blades??

Charlie, that is exactly what I would do. In fact I intend to do the same thing but with a 90/10 mixture.

Just buy the 30 % washer fluild and add a little meth to it
I don't think you can buy the 50/50 anymore. But if you look at walmart you will find the 30% mix.

What will he have if he takes 1/2 of the washer fluid out and replace it with methanol?

Good question. Would it be better if I add 1/3 meth to the washer? Just worried that too much meth mixture would not be good for the rubber, plastic, paint, etc.

You figue if you have about 30% meth in your washer fluid and it holds 2 gallons and you want 50/50

1 Gallon = 128 Ounces 30% (meth 38.4 ounces 89.6 ounces )
so take out about 1/s gall and add half gall of meth anf you will be around 50/50 (maybe a little more)

Just make sure you have a 2 gallon washer tank
