Default Zr1 tuners

I am in the bay area and I am soon to be ordering a cam, pulleys, h/e, and supporting mods for my 2010 zr1. I am planning to run a pump gas tune and a race gas tune. I have been told that I have to be extra cautious with these mods and want the car to last as well as drive as well as possible. I am curious who would be recommended in this case? (even if I have to travel a few hundred miles) I have always used one local tuner who I have liked but have been told to check elsewhere in this particular case.

I have been driving down to rpm in santa clarita for my tunes. They really take the time to tune it on the street and dyno. They keep making adjustments until driveability is to your liking. Icould not find much feedback for local tuners and how they tune on the street.

Synergy uses the DynoPak..Rick is able to put different loads on it to simulate different road condictions.

Thank you for the replies from everyone. It seems that Rick is quite popular. Is charles the same one that used to work at A and A? I am going to be doing my own work but just don't have the knowledge when it comes to tuning.

Yup... Charlie was the tuner at A&A

Since you like to do your own work, you might consider getting a tuning package and even if you don't end up doing it yourself, you'll get the nice view of what was actually done to the tune. Also, depending on how different the heads and cam change air flow, there may be the need for further tune work down the road. With the tuning software this is done easily and quickly. If you have the patience to learn and like to fiddle like me, you'll want the software.

Good luck with the new setup

I was kind of considering that now that it seems that may be the only way for me to be able to run two tunes. Any idea on costs if I have my own lap top? Do you have the number for charlie? (or location/shop name?)
thank you!

Here's a thread from Charlie right here...
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...ice-c5z06.html

I picked mine up a while back so I'm not current with the price differences between HPtuners or EFIlive. I'd use whatever package the tuner you go with recommends, or even better... uses.

It'll run you about $500 for an HP tuner. Also, Rick at Synergy can install a second PCM chip in your car so you can literally switch tunes with the flip of a switch.

Yes, his father-in-law is a crazy engineer type and he mods the PCM's for him. I'm sure others have done it before, but I've never heard of another shop offering this service.

I'd buy HPtuners if you want to switch tunes, plus you will be able to data log the tune, save yourself $100 off your tune since it costs that much for credits just to tune the car, and you'll be able to email the logs to your tuner for any tweaks you may need or want if you add more mods later. Plus it can scan codes and if you buy HPtuners get the Pro so you can hook up a wideband to it.

Thank you. I think that is what I am going to do. It seems to make the most sense. I had checked with rick about that flip switch tune. That isn't for this car apparently and it would be nice to have my own version of hp tuners anyways.
