The Vette was Bill's (RedTopZ) ST2 car.
I am sure that he will chime in as to what happened, but it did a good bit of damage to his race car.

Looked like both were carrying wayyyy too much speed for the inside line taken as they neared the apex for Turn 11, one of the slowest corners on the track. Had to slow down for corner entry by a considerable amount to not fly off course and I guess Miata didn't realize how much the Vette had slowed down. Miata guys are all about momentum so maybe he thought he could make up some time there.
Looking forward to hearing more about what happened.

Heh, I figured this would make it on to the forums sooner or later. There was a waving yellow flag in T11 that you can't see in the video. I was trying not to pass the legends car under yellow. Sucks for both me and the miata guy. Luckily I only broke a rear spindle and nothing else except for body damage. What sucks is I just got the car wrapped. Both me and the other driver are fine. Let's not turn this into a big forum "you should have done this or that" session please. After 5 years of racing and dozens of close calls these things will happen sooner or later. Thanks!

Hindsight is 20/20, but I should have just gone past the legends car at that point. I figured the miata would also be able to stop, but I was wrong.

Glad to hear the damage was minor and that both you and the other driver is safe.

Thanks for the clarity. I just figured the reduction of velocity due to taking the inside line may have caught the Miata a little off guard. You guys were flyin out there. Well, up until that point that is.

Its all part of the sport! Besides, a little "warpaint" adds character to the car. I think they should only allow those "Legends" to run in a 4th of July parade with those little cars the "Shriners" drive, those guys are always getting in the way!

NASA has a rule, if you pass under yellow, you're done for the day.
So, everyone is really careful on yellows. This is a situation where there wasn't a lot of time to react coming off the prior corner onto a very short straight and the legend car starting pulling off track which left Bill in limbo.
I was there, Bill was kickin' butt, leading the race over higher classed SU cars with more power and a lot less weight! It was fun to watch him

Wow, great attitude towards that, things like this happen just a miss calculation on braking. I can't recall how many times this has almost happened to me (someone running into me from behind). In the world of tracking a broken spindle isn't bad, and i bet that miata driver shyt his pants.

That could have been a lot worse. Glad you guys are both ok. Great attitude also. Nice to see. Have had to keep drivers apart after body contact so they didn't go at each other.
