Default Moving to Fresno

Just got a job offer in Fresno, so looks like Im moving soon.
Coming from Portland Oregon.
I have a 63 roadster and a 78 Pace Car.

Any advice on where to/not to live etc?

Corvette clubs? Mechanics?

SMOG advice? (Loopholes? the 78 will be dicey to smog....I can hope)

Re smog, keep the valve overlap on the cam less than 0*.

Hedman sells a couple legal long tube headers for your car. I'm running the 68301-6, which will be 100% legal for your vehicle. I hate the fitment around the idler arm, but what are you gonna do?

Make sure you have AIR, EGR, EFE all visible and functional and it should go pretty smooth.

Thanks!
I have McJacks with AIR tubes. Dual cats. All smog is present and functional. At least from appearances
It has a Howard's roller cam. Not sure the valve overlap. It's a 230@.050. .500/.510 112 lobe sep.

Don all I can say is call the local LEO'S and ask for a Crime stats sheet or talk with a realtor to get input on Location. I know about 6 yrs. ago they cracked down on crime stay away from the Collage area Homeless central drove by it a couple of times for football games. And if their is anyway to maintain a addy in Portland do it and keep the vette reg. up their and get your DD reg. here just my 02

Clovis is the nice area to live around Fresno. Great schools too.

IMO, north and northeast are the best areas to live. Same with Clovis. Stay to the north.

You will experience a major change in weather, as I am sure you know, nevertheless I bet you will still be surprised.

I hear Clovis is nice, I have a friend that lives out there, he's retired from trucking and now owns three auto parts stores just to keep busy.

Too hot for me and Portland is too overcast.

One extreme to the other....

good luck!

I have lived here my entire life and know too much about the area. Give me a call (559) 217-7892. I would be happy to help you out.

Just spent three days looking for a place....Have a lead on a few decent rental homes in Old Fig, Fig Garden and south Clovis.
Im hoping to secure one with a deposit this week.
My tentative arrival date in June 25th.

Ill keep you all posted, and will check in once I get settled. It would be nice to share a beer with a fellow unthusiast and get some local insights!

If you're packing, CA has very restrictive laws. Be careful. My brother told me that to buy ammunition (which there is none available) you need a photo ID and a thumb print!

Good luck

You'll be fine in the Fig Garden area. Good location.
