How have others shipped their seats?

They come from Caravaggio bolted to a sheet of plywood a little bigger than the seat. Then the plywood/seat is put in a box that will close over the top of the seat, then the box is filled with peanuts (millions of peanuts). The plywood is cut to the exact dimensions on the bottom of the box so it won't move around during shipment.

And then you just put your seat in the box and have ups pick it up? What did it cost?

I suspect the seat comes in a big plastic bag to keep the peanut duff off.

Is there a local dealer for Caravaggio that would give you a box?

If you need peanuts, I've got a bunch. Bought a new TV off the web,
and it was double boxed and the outer box was HUGE. The peanuts
are paper folded sorta pyramids, and the local UPS store won't take them
(will take plastic peanuts). They do a very nice job of lighting the
fireplace.

I had them buy seats and do the conversion to Daytona's then ship them to me. I have no idea what the cost would be to ship them to Canada. I do know it's cheaper to ship from a business with an account.

I thought you didn't send in your seats until the ones arrived from Caravaggio. Seems like it took 6 or 7 weeks to get the seats after I ordered them. Seems like it took a long time to get thru customs.

I think chuck is right, there was a "cloth" bag with a drawstring that went over the seat.

For the boxes you can use one of the wardrobe boxes from U-Haul. The seats are just about a perfect fit in there. As they mentioned the seats are just bolted to a plywood board, put in the box, covered and then the box is filled with peanuts.

Now that's a class act. And green -- they expect to get the bag back and use it again, and again.

I used the boxes my new seats came in also. I got my new seats and then put the old seats in the same boxes packaged up the same way and sent them back. I think I used UPS freight through my work account.

If you are going to do it I'd hurry up and get it sent! Busy season is coming up and the longer that you wait, the more backed up he is going to be and the longer and longer you are going wait to get it back!

Yes It is... Mine took around 6 weeks. I sent them off while my car was at synergy. They took longer then it took to finish up my car. John told me around 5 day of work on and they would be done. lol ....
