Thought some of you might be interested in this. Some big names were in this series and Chevrolet did everything possible to keep the cars evenly matched:

Thanks for posting that. It triggered me looking up some literature on the race. I didn't realize the SCCA had banned Corvettes for 1988 due to their dominance and the protests of other manufacturers. That gave me a chuckle, comparing those cars to the ZR1 that came out in 1990.

I knew a couple of guys in the series, and I remember wishing we had the money to participate in it. I like the fact that they policed the series trying to make things as even as possible. I was thinking about buying one of the cars from the series when I wanted to go historic racing, but they are not allowed to run with some of the vintage organizations. I

I see the same issue in bowling - everyone escalates their game by buying the latest and greatest ***** and aids, and the houses try and set up lane conditions to boost bowlers scores and make it attractive to them. God forbid they require everyone use the same ball without any aids and then see how everyone stacks up.
Why didn't they continue the Challenge Series? Not enough revenue?

Thanks for posting!
The history of these cars is fascinating! The 88s were made by Protofab, which one of the owners was Gary Pratt.... Now Pratt and Miller. I wish there were more videos and photos of these cars around from the day. The Showyourcorvette site is the best site out there to obtain some history on these cars.
