Default New Toy That All My Car Guys and Gals Will Appreciate.

Many of you know that I am as crazy about riding in the snow in the winter as I am driving the Z06 in the summer. I've been riding snow mobiles for 15 years and have had a couple of cool modded sleds. Once of my buddies recently got into financial trouble and needed to sell his highly modded sled so I picked it up. He bought it brand new and only put 450 miles on it, only 150 of which were modded.

It's an Arctic Cat Crossfire 800 mountain sled. Stock engine was an 800cc fuel injected twin 2 stroke with about 160 HP. It now has a Procharger B1 blower kit, larger injectors, fuel pump, cold air kit and other supporting mods (programmer, gauges etc) and makes about 220 HP on the 93 octane tune or 240 HP on the race gas tune.

The track is a full 2" Rip Saw paddle track, shocks are Fox Float and the it has wider aftermarket skis on it. Only other plans are to peel all the stickers off and wrap it with a white, gray, orange and black camo print. I can't wait to get a little more snow and find a steep hill.

Just for reference, a sled with similar power and mods will run about 9.90 - 10.3 in the quarter on pavement or about the same to 1,000 feet in good snow.

You might find an inconspicuous place to display 'ABEL CHEV' with the new camo print that would qualify as advertising, and the tax depreciation could reduce the cost of your new toy.

Either way, stay safe and wear your helmet.

I haven't read up on the tax laws in a long time, but I believe Abel would have to own (or be paying the bill for) the ski for that to happen. As a personal toy of an employee I'm not sure it provides the same deductions...would it?

Maybe he could get a per-diem of some kind though when he uses it?

Rich could always claim it as a deduction. He'll only get in trouble if he is audited. Rich, are you going to enter that thing in Vette Magic next year?

I would love to run it on the pavement, but I'm not sure Carrie would approve. She keeps saying that she likes me and wants to keep me around.

She's already nervous enough that I got this thing because she knows how we ride

That's a crazy amount of power for something so small......I like it!

Rich, I didn't know you were into snow speed as well.............next I suppose you'll tell us you have a flat bottom ski boat with a 427 in the rear.........

No, we've had a couple boats, but they can be a pain. With all the Auto X and track days, our summers are pretty booked up.

Honestly, next to tracking the Z06, sleds are the next most fun and exciting. Being able to accelerate that fast on snow and do 120 MPH is quite the rush. It's literally unbelievable what these machines will climb up. With a good mountain sled and a lot of HP these things will climb mountains that you could never dream of walking up.

Search on youtube some of the modded sled videos.

Yes, this is what the AMSOIL was for.

My brother is a CPA and helps us "maximize" our tax liability
