Audio Installer - Bay Area or in Sacramento Region
Anyone have any good experience with local audio installers? Any recommendation in and around Bay Area. Can travel to Sacramento area too if there are any good ones there.
Have a c6 and would like to get a 2-DIN unit. Currently it has stock base unit without Bose.
Asked a couple of installers and was quoted $1200 in Sunnyvale, CA for mid level unit from Kenwood. Don't wanna spend that much just for the headunit.
Thanks

Not a very DIY guy plus don't have space to do it and not every savvy with electric stuff. Won't want to mess it up.
I so wish DoubleDMods would open a shop here.

Bad report. No referral here. I called ahead asking if they could replace the passenger door speaker in my 06 vert (this afternoon) and they said yes come on in. When I arrived the manager/owner wanted to look at it (all he could see is the cover)? So I asked if he'd done these before and he said "sure". He went inside to his computer and then walked through his stacks of speaker boxes on his display floor, Kenwoods, Alpines and so on. Back to his computer he says he has to order one as its a 10" sub woofer and all he has are 8"ers. I called ahead with my info earlier remember? Then he tells me the speaker costs $429 plus $69 to install it and would I like to replace both? Over a thousand dollars for two speakers? I was speechless for a bit but then confirmed that he wanted over $500 to replace one door speaker and he said yes, 'the dealer wants over $900 for it.' I didn't bother to ask the brand he was referring to and left. Now, I see them as cheap (cheap?) as $200+ online so how hard is it to replace? Plugins or soldered connections? And do they really cost hundreds of dollars for one speaker?

Thanks for the review Terry. I had a very similar experience and the prices they quote has always been over the top. May be they think since its a corvette we may want to spend a fortune on it.
With regards to speakers and receivers, i have seen that most installers ask more when compared to what is available online. They don't even price match. I will ask around and see if somebody can charge just for labor and not the parts.

You should try Kenny in Union City. He is a good guy and will go out of his way to make sure you're taken care of. I work with him all the time. I am a service manager at a dealership in Hayward. I have never had an issue.
Give him a shot. Tell him Frank from El Dorado sent you.

Custom Audio in Mt. View gets great reviews on both Yelp and Google+. I haven't had them do any major work but did have them install an iPod jack in my car and was very happy with their work and price.

Check out Street Beat in Hayward:http://www.yelp.com/biz/street-beat-hayward-2
I recently had them install a Pioneer NEX4000 with Apple CarPlay. These guys are great! I was very happy with the service and pricing.
