Default Long awaited smog scoop

I underwent my first inspection for the 2008 C6. I returned it back to stock mostly. I previously had full bolt on's.

Now I have the Z06 manifolds and "H" pipe along with a tune and a ring and pinion change in the differential, 4:10's.

There was a lot of speculation early on with the news of the OBD scan with the elimination of the tailpipe sniffer. This was maybe 3 years back and finally in August, after some delay, California implemented the new law.

Talk of the tune showing up and I also read talk of the gear change showing up too on their test software. Both possibly would indicate a fail condition. The Z06 swap while oem is not technically legal but nevertheless it passed the visual as did the car.

I hope this will elevated some other's fears. I have not read much about this issue in the past year or so.

It fully takes effect in 2015. There was a grace period for the shops to get up to speed with the software from the August go ahead.

I am one happy camper ...

my z06 passed with flying colors as the shop didn't notice my headers, Callaway intake or any other mods. They really just cared about the obd2 results and checked if it had cats.

Lucky you, wish I could of kept the long tubes.

I just did not want any hassles and a few years back got a reasonable deal with the swap.

I passed smog a month ago with Z06 exhaust and X pipe, a Fast 102 intake, and 3.15 gears. No drama after full check. I did put the OEM air intake back on in place of the Vararam.

A tune does not matter, it will pass without issue. The new system basically just looks for readiness tests and no check engine light.

Now it is proven, prior speculation involved the infamous Checksum counts.

I would of loved to have been able to have kept the Headers!

The LS3 responds well to them along with a tune at 47 rwhp.

Dang, I pulled the long tubes, tune, and vararam. Still more car than I can handle, but ran soooo nice!

Do you have a custom tune on your Z to go with the headers and other mods?
Thanks
