Default Visiting NoCal in January, coming from Switzerland

Hi guys and Girls

My wife and I will be spending the week from Jan 12 through 18 in Northern California (before we fly over to Florida for the NCRS winter meet). I know it's off season, but I was wondering if there is a chance there will be a "get together" among you and we foreigners could maybe share a coffee or drink or two and talk Corvettes.

I know the chance is slim but who knows. I'm just trying to avoid the withdrawl symptoms . Otherwise the tourist-rents-a-Mustang-convertible-in-winter program will have to do.

Greetings from Switzerland

Martin and Kate

Where the wind will blow us . We'll land in San Francisco and will stay there for 2 nights. After that we have no concrete plans yet. Just a car and time on our Hands.

Welcome to California! I'd like to hook up or attend a GTG, but will be out of the area.

It sounds like fun. I'm in the Placerville area and the weather should be good this weekend.

Would love to meet you guys if this works out. As mentioned, we're pretty flexible in regards to when and where during that week .

Right now I'm looking at 10" of snow outside our window so even a few degrees warmer sounds real good, even if it should rain.

Martin

***Edit:
Sorry, forgot to tell a little about ourselves. I guess it would be only polite if you knew what you got yourself into, if you had to meet Kate and me:

We're a couple that you could call mid-year - in regards to our age and love for Corvettes. We own a 69 convertible which we drive extensively on classic rallyes, classic racing events and tours throughout Europe. Right now we are planning our second trip to England with a group of 5 other Corvettes (Scotland to be more precise). We've visited Northern California many times before and always wondered, where you guys are hiding your Corvettes. Strange, but I don't remember seeing more than one or two classic ones during the trips we made in the last 15 years. That's why we were kind of hoping...

I'm up for the weekend of the 12th

Martin....usually people bring the classics out of the garage during the summer/weekends, in my area anyway...I drive my 68 all year round, but not much lately due to scheduling/weather though I did move it yesterday to put Christmas decor away

Always interesting meeting Vette owners from other countries, hopefully will meet up while you're here...pm sent

Thanks for that guys . I got a few PMs and just replied to them. Just to make sure there's no misundestanding as to the dates: We'll be flying in on Sunday Jan 11, so that Weekend unfortunately won't work. The whole week and the following Weekend (Jan 17/18) will though. Our flight to Orlando will leave on Monday Jan 19.

This could be fun exchanging stories between European and US Corvette owners. Same cars, different surroundings and challenges.

Martin and Kate

If you're interested, here's a short video about our own Corvette:

And a few pictures:

Nürburgring, Historic Race Event 2014 (public racing days)

London Tower Bridge (Saturday morning 5:30 AM!!)

And a typical picture of what life as a C3 owner really means:

like you said, a bit "off season" but the weather appears to be fine, cool but sunny.

I take it you're aware of the SF "must see"/"been there-done that" places, GG bridge, lombard street, Alcatraz, pier 39.

that's a worthy destination too although I can't say I made it yet:
http://www.calacademy.org/

if you wanna check out at some cars in general may consider these:
http://www.blackhawkmuseum.org/autogallery.html
http://www.specialtysales.com/pleasanton

if you are a real road warrior and don't mind putting some serious miles on the rental stang you can consider the big one:
http://www.pomonaswapmeet.com/
be there at 5am, leave before noon and drive back up to your return flight.

either way, enjoy your trip

Just a thought. The jaw jackers have their cars and coffee every sat at bmr. This would be the only real event scheduled for next weekend on Saturday.

Hey Tony,
Are they going on a run from there or just meeting and visiting?
I may try to make it.
