Basically, the way it works is that you will run your car for one group and then work one group. Run/Work groups are usually about 90 minutes, but often less in the morning groups.
As stated, if there is nobody to work then there is no way to make runs. This is typical with all Auto x clubs.

Its been a long time since I crossed and was just wondering where the money goes. If just thirty participants show up there would be over a thousand dollars collected from the drivers for one day's running. Can't imagine Solano JC charging too much for their parking lot and insurance shouldn't be too much. I just didn't expect to be charged nearly $50 to run (and) be required to work the track as well.

And as for working if no one works there wouldn't be any autox.. You have to have a certain amount of people on the course for safety reasons.....
Im at most of the autox's and volunteer my time working the course so others can run... I don't run too many times in the year, but I make sure to make it out to help out to make sure others can run their cars and have fun in a safe environment,,,,,
If you go to Sonoma Raceway it costs you.. Thunderhill isn't cheap ... nor are any of the others .... 45.00 is a cheap price to pay to have fun with our cars in a safe environment with like minded car people....
If your a WSCC member its only 40.00

Working the course is no big deal. Many times I don't even have to reset a cone.
If you have not done this before, come out and drive, watch or ride with one of us for the experience. Last year I had invited a young man who had recently joined the Forum to help him fix the Corvette he had bought. It was a Father - son project. He and his Dad came on Saturday and road with my racing partner and myself. They had such a great time, they came back on Sunday.

Thanks for the info. Good to know how the program is run before participating. As I said, I've crossed before, it's just been a long time. The last time was actually at Solano College in the south lot. We paid so much per lap for a best average of three laps in class. The top two cars could pay for an extra lap to try and improve their average as long as they both agreed to. Mine was the 1,600-2,000cc class. As I recall, the top two unlimited class runners were a very hot 240Z with race slicks and a Pantera. The Z towed a two wheel trailer that was just big enough to hold a floor jack and four huge slicks! But no (paid entrant) had to work the track. It doesn't seem out of line to assume that once the fees are paid, the people running the show would provide track workers. That, and my previous experience is why I asked. Those running the open wheel Formula Ford series at Sonoma for example, paid their track fees and each team would provide corner workers or pay an extra fee but it wasnt a 'requirement' for the teams to work the track. One corner worker per team per race or pay extra was the norm. Maybe I'll come out.
