CAM event @ Crows Landing
For those of you that autocross, here is your chance to run at the SPEEDWAY/SCCA CAM challenge March 6th-8th. The powers to be have opened up the event to all corvettes instead of just c1-c4 chassis. So as long as you have 200tw street tires and a current registration then you can run. No matter what motor, tires, modifications, suspension, doesn't matter. All corvettes runs in one class. Cost is $75 for the weekend and your not required to work the course. If your an SCCA member and you want to run but not in the challenge then the cost is $25. Doing so will require you to work.

Here is the sign up link. You do need to be a SCCA member. I believe $15 SCCA temp memberships will be available.

I'll be going, but as a 'worker' driving my main autocross car (a Subaru) and not my Corvette. Good luck to all of the Challenge participants, it should be a blast.
Rich, can you bring my mufflers that have been sitting at Abel?

If not, I'll just bring the Vette on Sunday to haul it back. Funny that this is the practical car now...

What an awesome event. Thanks to Speedway Motors, SCCA, Wilwood Disc Brakes, Mike Maier Inc and all the others that made this event possible. Carrie and I had a blast and it was great hanging around such a cool group of great drivers.
Carrie ended up taking runner up for the Challenge. She raced her way through the field, even taking me out on the third round of eliminations. She had to face Mary Pozzi in the final and each of them hit a cone, but Mary edged her out.
I'm glad that Carrie decided to actually come race this. She was hesitating on even going and didn't make her final decision to come until about 8pm on Friday night.
Here are a couple pics from the weekend.
Oh yeah, thanks to Mary Pozzi for the new sticker.

Glad you had fun, hopefully Raleigh will take the info that he gained from this event and take it back to SCCA and we can get the c4-c7 officially included on CAM-S.
Just as a piece of information Frank and Chris of AAS have agreed along with Scott and Bruce driving the Cobra that all Corvettes will be allowed to compete in CAM-S for AAS events. That's good news for all of us with modified Corvettes that still want to compete on street tires with 200tw and above.

Really depends on what size wheels your running. For the c6z with 18x11/13 your only option is the Rival, stock size wheels the pilot ss or re-11. C5z with 18x10.5 square you have falken rt-516k, rival s should have a 315 available at some point, hankook has the rs-3 in 295 which works cause it needs a little stretch to work. Bridgestone has the re-71 in a 275 that is sized like a 295 that is showing extreme promise.

For what it's worth, at the Optima Challenge event a couple weekends ago, the car went 1:56 at Thunderhill trying to chase Danny Popp who went 1:53.xx on the same tires.

It was a great event and it was awesome seeing so many Corvettes out there. Lots of models across many different generations. The Willhoff Z was crazy fast out there, laying down one of the fastest raw times of the event. Certainly one of the best sounding cars too.
Carrie drove really well and it was awesome seeing her in the final round of the challenge and taking 2nd out of 40 competitors. I was working the course and it was great seeing her picking up her pace and beating her dial ins as the day went on.
As a worker, I got to drive the course and it was a lot of fun. Course was very fast and challenging. Those 'Z's in the back half of the course was challenging to nail down correctly, I don't think I ever got it completely right. For those who couldn't attend and would like to see the course and what we were doing, here is a video of a run I took on Saturday. The course got a little faster on Sunday, I was able to dip into the 55s, but my video recorder has a technical issue so I don't have my runs from Sunday.
It was a pretty fast course for a 200hp Subaru. The 400+ HP Corvettes were certainly having some fun out there
Thanks again Rich for bringing my mufflers over.

Did they mention where results would be posted and when? I would like to see them as I only got to glance at them.
I was happy with my 300 UTQG Michelin PSS running 295x25x20 F and 295x30x20 R. I didn't find their limit and the driver was to blame.
It was a fun event and tires became a great equalizer. If SCCA continues to allow C6s in CAM-S I will get the next set of tires in a larger size but for now these fit great on the car.
