Registering my out of state Corvette in California
I'm currently trying to sell my 2005 Corvette that's registered in Minnesota but it would make it much easier to sell, if I could in California. The modifications that are limiting me from California registration is headers with high flow cats and potentially the Vararam intake.
Is my only option to register my Corvette in California, to remove the headers and install LS2/LS7/LS9 exhaust manifolds and OEM cats, then get it retuned?

Thanks for the help,
Brian

Assuming the tune isn't turning off emissions sensors or otherwise preventing the readiness tests from passing, you shouldn't have to re-tune. But you will have to fix the other stuff.

With headers you don't have rear O2 sensors so the tune blocked them out, which is why I think I would need a retune too. If anybody has options besides installing new exhaust manifolds and cats, send me a PM.

One thing you have to understand is that the car could pass the sniffer....BUT......then they look and inspect everything else. Headers that do not have a CARB number or cats without a CARB number and you FAIL no matter how good your numbers are.
I had a friend with an 88 up in the Sacramento area that passed the sniffer but was failed because he had an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. This state is a bitch when it comes to SMOG.

Except he wants to sell it in California. Where it's the responsibility of the seller to pass the smog test before registration can be changed to the new owner. It might be easier to just sell it in Minnesota.

I've kept my Minnesota ID and Minnesota registration on my C6 for the past three years that I've been in California. For now I'll keep driving it and hopefully the cars.com ad finds a buyer out of state and they're willing to come pick up the vehicle. I've had minimal hits on cars.com and I'm thinking about throwing it on eBay and seeing what happens.
