Talk to me about purchase options for a C7 in Silicon Valley
Hello everyone!
I'm planning on a move out to Silicone Valley (probably around Sunnyvale) in a couple of months to start a new job. As a treat to myself, I'd like to graduate from my '12 V6 PP Mustang to a C7 Z51 so I am evaluating my purchase options. I've narrowed it down to the following three:
a) Buy from one of the well appreciated mega-dealers (Kerbecks, MacMulkin, or some of the other folks that advertise here in the dealer inventory forum). Pros: FAR better pricing than anything I've been able to get a dealer to give me locally. Cons: CA dealers being miffed whenever you gotta take the car in for work because it wasn't bought from there (at least the ones in NY do so)
b) Buy locally from CA. Pro: The dealer who services the car is the one who sold it to me so hopefully the behavior is a bit better. Con: Inventory is crap so I'd have to wait 4-6 weeks after I move and I'd end up paying basically MSRP.
c) Buy here in NY and drive it to CA. Both the cons of (a) and (b) but I get to drive a C7 across the US vs a Mustang which has an undeniable cool factor to it.
What did/would you guys choose? Can anyone recommend a dealer in the Valley that's willing to work on pricing (the dealers that I've dealt with here in NY are unbelievably rigid...maybe they are dismissing me because of my age...not sure).
Thank you all and I look forward to joining the 'vette family!

I'd suggest you talk to Tim Boone at Boardwalk Chevrolet in Redwood City. You can find him in the Dealers section of the C7 Forum.
Best wishes on your move!

I second tuxnharley's recommendation.
Once you get the car, it is likely that quite a few forum members will recommend that you take it to Abel Chevrolet Buick in Rio Vista for dealer service. The drive to there from the Bay Area is worth it in my opinion.

Tim at Boardwalk Chevrolet in Redwood City. (If Tim not available, ask for Brian). Just picked up a car this weekend and was very well taken care of. Excellent team!

You buy a car and drive it across the country, meaning you registered it in New York, you can not bring it in to Cali unless it has 7500 miles on it first.
Buy new from Say Kerbeck, you will need the build sheet to show the california emissions option, and you still need to smog it even though it's new. Enclosed Trailer was around $2200.00 when I had mine shipped.
Talk to Tim would be my suggestion as well.
Good Luck!

Our Z51 allocation is spoken for through the build out of this year, but I would recommend talking to Tim at Boardwalk. If he has all of their units already spoken for then another option is to purchase from one of the large dealers back east and do a courtesy delivery with me. We understand that we don't have the large allocations like the larger volume dealers, but we do service a much larger volume of Corvettes then many of them combined.
I handle 3-4 courtesy deliveries per month and will make sure everything is handled as if the car was purchased through us. If you have any questions or want to chat about your options, please feel free to email me and we can get it handled.

For what it's worth, Fremont Chevy treated me well. I got my 2013 Camaro from them (before the Vette), and my wife's ELR from their Caddy dealership across the street (post-Vette). Service can be hit/miss, but seems to be getting better.
Rich helped me with Service, but that's a solid drive from the south bay, and I never ended up doing anything with Boardwalk, though they both have great reputations.

Wanted to give everyone a heads up, ended up getting a C7 Z51 1LT from Tim and Don at Boardwalk. Should be arriving this week and obviously I'm ecstatic. Thank you all for your input!
