Ya, he's in the A-group. Sorry, Bill, couldn't resist.

Kidding aside, any first-timers on here could learn a ton from some of the folks on this forum, particularly Richie and Bill. The HOD crew will do their darndest to get you there!

We all started at the point. I still remember some of Bill's first track days and now look at the accomplishments. I thought I was hauling *** on the 5 mile last month with my 3:23 and 3:24 laps and then I see Bill's videos of 3:13 and want to cry.

Thinking about it! Would be fun to celebrate your b-day at the track.

Don't make me bring my miata up there! Would be good to see you, haven't been to an HOD event in probably 5 years or more now. I've seen David at some SCCA races.

I think I am also getting in on a private rental for the 2 mile the day before so it should be a fun couple days.

Do we have to do a class room first?? How does it work.. I would love to do a one day event.. My wife just did the Viper experince with Dodge and ran the 3 mile road course track at Las Vegas(I was Jealous)

Hell yeah Ryan. The 5 mile is the best road course that I've ever driven and I don't think it will ever get old.
I'm a tech inspector for SCCA and at the last race I chatted with David Ray and asked about the sound requirements and yes they do enforce them. I have a concern about my car also.

I agree with Richie. We have had our vintage Corvette race car out there for testing a couple of times and we were never flagged for sound.

Yes, there is a classroom session for first-timers prior to each on-track stint. First-timers also do some paddock drills (currently a threshold brake/slalom and a figure 8) before going out. Each run group (beginner, intermediate, advanced, race-prepped) has a "download" discussion after each stint. Safety overrides everything, but after that we want folks to have fun. Learning the technical stuff, although important if you want to go faster, comes third in terms of emphasis.

Right you are, Rob. 103 dB at THill. Very rare but it does happen. I don't remember the last time. MRLS is a very different story!

Thanks! I never stop learning (or at my age, re-learning). Even beginners will ask questions that challenge me to re-think. Cool part about teaching the A-group is I actually have to know that stuff!

Ha! I've seen your vids. I got nuttin' for you or your Jelly Bean! But don't let that stop you from giving me a thorough beat-down.

how loud is 103db? Any chance a stock stingray with NPP (fuses pulled, always open) can trip that at WOT?

I'm signed up. Is there a certain spot you guys usually park? I'll bring my EZ up too.

I usually try and park in between the two large covered areas (about even with the start/finish line if possible). We will be over on the private rental tomorrow, but I will try and go save a few spots tomorrow evening. Look for my silver crew cab Silverado with a trailer, along with Derek Abel's blue Silverado with a trailer.

We will try and save 10-12 spots.
