Looking for mechanic near Half Moon Bay for 62 Vette
Have a 62 Vette that I need to export to an estate beneficiary who lives in New Zealand. Before doing so, I want to have the car fully tuned up since it has been used very little in the last year or so.
The closer a good, reliable and quick mechanic is to Half Moon Bay, the better. When I started the car up a week ago, it took a lot to get it to going...kept turning over but not start. Eventually it did start but had to keep giving it gas to not stall until it warmed up. It's entirely possible it was difficult to start due to old gas, but I want to make sure there's no ignition or fuel delivery issues before shipping it out.

Car is located in the Half Moon Bay area, so what I meant is that I'm looking for a good mechanic that isn't a long drive away. Another words, no East Bay or South Bay area mechanics. Anything in the Burlingame down to Redwood City area is ideal.

Not likely. I now live 2 hours south of Half Moon Bay and even when I lived in Half Moon Bay, I avoided Dream Machines like the plague...too much gridlock.

I've taken my car here for a tune up http://www.carsupport.com/
They do work on old cars.
I've had Gary do work for me as well.

Dougs Classic & Hot Rod Repair, but I have not had them do work for me.

The owner, Bob Waldschmidt, has been working on Vettes for 40 years; not just body work either, but all aspects of the mechanicals. His shop is in the geographic area you specified.

Instead, try Max Krewson, owner of Race-Street-Rally in Santa Clara. He has done a lot of work on my '67 and '07 Vettes. http://www.yelp.com/biz/race-street-...ly-santa-clara

IMHO I would avoid Herlinger's shop. Years ago he had an assistant and turned out good work in a timely manner. However, for at least five years he has been working alone and he's as slow as molasses. Last I heard, he wasn't even in his shop most of the time.

If Dave has the time, take it to him, you might also want to try Precision Motive in Hayward, Pat will be more expensive but, has hired help.

Well I'm going to give him a call. Car is not a dd not concerned with it being done in one day or anything. Basically the car has had the motor rebuilt etc by specialists but the car still has some issues with running and starting easily. The work was done in socal. What I'm getting at is I really need an expert to see if the carb was rebuilt incorrectly or if there is something that needs to be changed. Also a problem breaking up at high rpm above 3000/3200 under wide open throttle once the car has been driven for more than 20 minutes. Car had been sitting before all the work on the mechanicals.
