Default New stablemate

So I debated about getting a new Z06 to go with my 2008 model but in the end, decided that a "family" car was more warranted. So, I sold my C55 AMG to a friend in Santa Rosa and ordered a new 2016 E63 AMG S back in February. It is scheduled to arrive in late July. My parents are visiting from Missouri so I decided to take them to the Mercedes store to see another E63 so they could get an idea of what I am getting. Well wouldn't you know it, they had just received an "Edition 1" C63 AMG S and I was smitten. I drove it back-to-back with the E63 and it was no contest, this C is so track focused as compared with the E that I had to have it.

I have to admit that I am not a huge fan of the murdered out look but this one feels right. I may change the wheels later but for now, it will stay stock with the exception of an extensive clear bra and tinted windows.

What do you all think?

Default A few more shots

The carbon fiber dash has one thread of red per weave and really sets it off. I will get better photos later.

I love the latest Merc exteriors and this looks crazy good. The one thing I haven't been able to overcome tho is that goofy nav screen that looks like it was thrown in as an afterthought. Prior body style had them integrated into the dash like any normal vehicle while this thing just looks like they bolted it to the top of the dash...ugh. Merc interior engineer should be immediately fired.

I completely agree and was really put off by it at first. Plus, there is an inch of wasted space on all sides of it. The least they could have done was use the whole space and give us a monster screen size. I am not a big fan of the rear three quarter view as well but overall, I think the design is well integrated in the AMG form.

I approve. Nice ride Kurt. I have always been a fan of the AMG cars, especially the forced induction versions. Do they still offer the power upgrades to the C series cars to make them the same as their E series brothers?

Not so much. The "base" C63 has 469hp while the S model (my version) is pumped up to 503hp plus a electronic LSD and other frippery. In the US, we only get the E63 AMG S which has 577hp. I think the base E63 in other markets makes around 550hp.

However, several magazines have dyno'ed each and found that MB is lying through their teeth on hp ratings. Motor Trend speculates that the E63 is actually making around 650hp! With the C63 somewhere around 550hp. I will "chip" mine eventually but for now, will enjoy "only" 503hp....and a warranty.

I would love to run it at our next autocross but realize our agreement with the college will only allow Vettes....unless you think we can sneak it in!

Beautiful car!! Jealous...I'd love to have that in my garage (but I need a bigger garage first).
