Default San Jose shop, Akins?

Anyone heard of this Corvette shop? Gets good Yelp reviews and I need a set of shocks installed.

Don't know about Akins but I can highly recommend Tom at Precise Auto.

Honest, knowledgeable, good prices, clean shop and attention to detail. I'd trust him with any repair or modification large or small. Above all else he will be accountable for anything they do to your car.

A shop in Santa Clara that specializes in Corvettes and 5-star yelp reviews is Race-Street-Rally: http://www.yelp.com/biz/race-street-...ly-santa-clara I've had lots of good work done there.

Akins is good with very fair pricing and good advise (the shop owner is very chatty). He expanded his shop recently but continues to be super busy. Tell him the guy with the black Corvette sent you, he just might give you a deal.

Race Street Rally is also good but expect to pay higher prices.

Well, I left a voicemail at Akins but got no return call. Found another shop with multiple five star Yelp reviews who changed the shocks for $180 in less than two hours. For laughs, the dealer wanted $570 labor and wouldn't change my OEMs to Bilsteins because they don't sell Bilsteins. For another laugh, they wanted $600 for a set of OEM shocks. I got a set of Bilstein SP shocks for about $90 each delivered from Turner MotorSports. Although I'm happy with them, eventually I'll get a stiffer tunnel plate and Z51 sway bars. Being a vert it has some built in flex I'd like to minimize.
