C7 Z06 Track Mode Decibel level on Track Days
Has any one had a problem with their C7 Z06 Decibel level on Track Days. My buddy wants to run some Track Days at Laguna Seca and Sears Point, wants to know if his car is too loud in Track Mode.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks, Scott

The car is too loud to run at MRLS in any mode due to the flaps opening under WOT, even in quiet mode. The only way around MRLS sound check is to use fourth gear and keep the throttle light as you approach the sound booth. I have not heard of anybody getting booted from Sears for a car with stock exhaust being too loud.

My 07z registered 92.2db at Laguna a couple of years ago and since then I have rewired my exhaust so I can force the flaps closed when I go by the sound station. I have been able to run 90db days without any issues.
As Rich indicated, Sears is much more lenient so that should pose no problems.

The knarley look worked for me.
Hasn't the decimal rating at Laguna Seca recently dropped to 90 dbs for most events? Kinda makes a guy gun shy.

On my last HPDE at MRLS, there was a stock Z06 blowing sound. After a move to "Stealth" on the exhaust, he was clearing it just fine. I think its totally possible to get by in this mode without blowing sound. Worst case, 4th gear up the hill, and lift a little right at the booth. MRLS is an awesome track, I think it's worth a little hassle for the adventure of the infamous cork-screw at least once in a while.

Don't forget the wandering hand-held sound-check guy at MRLS. I did. Yesterday was the first time I ever drove to a track, and then drove home, using the same tank of gas. Couldn't get three consecutive laps done in any session without a meatball flag, and was done for the day before lunch. Very disappointed.
If you have a c6z, I can help a bit by sharing what I did. I've been using a home-brewed switch system to shut the exhaust flaps at the sound check station and then opening them back up when I pass. I've run six track days at Laguna this way and have not been meatballed.

Just for a data point, I got measured at Sonoma Raceway in my stock Z06 recently. 3rd gear flat out going past the S/F, had readings of 94 and 97 dB. Clearly too loud for Laguna Seca. I'm going there at the end of the month, am hoping that a short shift into 4th will save me.

Any one going to Sears Point this Saturday?
Hooked on Driving event this weekend. 4/16/2016.
A couple of Corvette buddies will be there. Weather in the high 70's.

Anything i can stick in the open npp exhaust side of the muffler to quiet the car down? If a stock c7 z06 hit 97 im sure my borla x pipe would put it at 100 ish. 97 is the limit at Sonoma and im going there in april.
IveIve been thinking of wrapping the tip in exhaust wrap and trying to clamp a turn down on but the tips are flared.
Then i thought id force the valves closed but modify the muffler so more air can go through the quiet side and i dont break anything.
thenthen i thought i could install a non NPP stingray exhaust, this would be the quietest i think.
Any ideas.

Ok i think the best way would be toto c off the npp side at the muffler, weld on v band clamp flange, then get a mandrel bend that matches and weld that to a small muffler sticking up.
Now you can run at laguna seca and sonoma and not get meatballed! Easy to switch back too.
